Sorry guys, but i need your help! Im from Toronto and winter season is coming and now the LS is acting up. I have a v8 2000 LS. First i had a coolant leak that i took care off,so no more leaks and the reservoir is full but car still overheats. I had it inspected and everything checks out but still overheats. when i say overheats, i mean i can see the temp gauge going up untill i shut up the car and then it dips back down to normal. its annoying and i dont know what to do anymore, can someone help?

very common issue.

The LS is very picky about the refill and bleeding procedure - air pockets common cause. There is a guide in the tech section.

The Thermostat is the other very common issue - do a search on it - many threads with pictures and process.

ok, i forgot to say that, the car was bleed after the coolant leak fix and thermostat was swap the same time as well. so what is it?

honestly - bleeding and t-stat fix 95% of all overheating issues - double check those first - both are cheap compare to the next steps..

I would pull the t-stat out, refill and bleed - if it doesn't overheat - you have it, if it still does then:

- could be a cht sensor tell falsely complaining about temp
- blockage/restriction
- pump failure (the LS has three)

i replaced my t stat and i bled mine poorly once, it helped for about a week. then i took my time and bled it correctly and it worked for like 4 months. recently it had popped high again, but i just topped off my coolant and its worked fine since! t-stat and proper bleed (maybe more than once!!) are DEFINATELY where to start. $10 part and half hour of labor is definately a small price to pay to saving hundreds upon hundreds.

I agree with the above, except that Im not certain the t-stat is failing as often as reported. it's the subsequent bleed that's addressing the issue. I've also found that an air bubble will get in there..just on it's own on occassion.
