Mostly drive on surface streets. The other day I was on a stretch of
road and decided to use drive and it did not go in gear. Tried a couple
more times at higher and lower speed. No go. All other gears work fine
and smooth.

I have not worked on my cars' drivetrain in over 8 months except check
fluids on a regular basis. Also checked under the car for leaks and anything
out of the norm. All seemed to check out and fluids are good and filled to spec.

I'm not too familiar with 4R70W but I've done the 1-2 accumulator
upgrade on my Gen 1.

Any ideas what I need to do to get Gen 2 drive back ?

What did the light do? Green light means off, no light means on. Although you probably know that. Also, if there is a problem the car will usually flash the OD indicator.

And if there is no light, its probably on but the switch wires broke. Rather common issue.

And when you press the OD switch to disengage it, no light? Sounds like a bad switch. I am pretty sure you are actually in OD. Dont confuse OD with TC lockup. If you are cruising at 65mph, press the accelerator slightly. Should fee like a shift. RPM will probably go from 2100 to 2300. Thats the TC unlocking. Or you can test TC lockup by pressing the brake pedal. RPM will also climb. Press harder and you should drop into third where RPM will probably go up to 2800 or so (guessing here). You can then shift into third via lever, if no change you know you are in third.

Ok thanks. Will check for a bad switch or maybe an electrical connection.

Diagnosis is spot on. Thanks unity. It is a bad switch in the shifter knob.
I took it apart today and did a continuity test (tested good) but it turns out
its mechanically bad.

Anyone selling a good replacement knob, cheap?. JY near me have
none available. Neither does CL or eBay.

Dude I'm parting out a 97.

sweet! I may need other parts off that car.

What color interior?

ok you sold me the shift knob.

Is the RH side mirror good / no damage?

Do you know if the car has heated seats?

If the heated seats work , I'll buy those from you.
My wife is spoiled having heated seats in her DD.
She'd like one installed in my 97.

I already have a heated seat control in great condition.

I am missing the wire harness that goes behind
this controller.

Sell me the 4 heated seat elements with harness along
with the 2 heated seat modules from under each seat +
*harness connectors at the controls and the *harness
connectors at the modules. (*6-8" wiring pigtails)

And that would complete the system. I have the wire
color codes for the '97-'98 if needed.

PM me for your payment requirements.

Thanks Frank

Just FYI Ren, if you grab that switch button with a pair of pliers, it will pull out of the shifter handle, then you can just replace the switch and not worry about getting a whole new handle, because I think all the buttons are black.

You are right Dan, All I really need are the switch pieces inside and transfer
those to the one in the car now.
