So after I swapped the shocks in the truck I decided I had enough energy left to do the rear shocks in teh Lincoln. Of course nothing goes as planned.
Everything came out nice and easy but when it came to reassembly there was issues. :( My brand spanking new $50 poly bushings do not fit my custom shock mounts so that sucked. Anyone want them and they can have them for $30 still new and in the package (they arrived in a sammich bag).
So I figured no problem cause the new shocks came with bushings...... that also dont fit. :Bang So I had to macgyver them by shaving them down a tad and then lube them with some silicon spray lube and work them into the mounts. Nice and snug fit so that should be ok. The next problem showed itself upon bolting the mounts up. I thought I was using my cheap air ratchet but I was using my Ingresol and when it stoped moving with air power I gave it a little pull to tighten (cause my cheap ratchet is weak) and snapped a bolt clean off the mount :Bang :(
Screw it. I am not going to be lifting the rear tires off the ground while driving and the bushing alone holds it in so tight I cant wiggle it. One day I will remove it and bring it to a shop to have a new bolt welded to it or cut it off myself and run a bolt but for now its too hot and humid out.

Does the bushing look too compressed to you guys? (last two photos) Should I lossen the shock nut a bit?
Also, if anyone wants poly rear bushings for cheap then let me know. :D

Yup, it looks too squashed to me. But mine is the same way - I didn't know/think poly bushings would squish that bad - but they have to be tight!

I don't see how it'll hurt anything long-term.

Fun job huh?

They are not the poly bushings. They are the regular rubber bushings the Tokicos come with cause they have a thicker shaft.
The poly bushings I bought dont fit, thats why I am selling them. :(

Well it was eatin away at me so I just had to go outside and fix that plate. Glad I did as I ended up putting one upper bushing on upside down so I corrected that too.
I used a cut off wheel and cut the old broken bolt out and then put in a new one using a dab of silicone to hold it in place while I got it all together. I also backed off the torque on the shock bushings. Now they are not so compressed. :D

Thanks guys. I ordered the shocks from ebay. There was a guy that had the Tokico Struts and shocks for $221 shipped so I jumped on them. He has 6 left I believe. Its weird, you push on the car and it seems softer then the Gabriels that were in it but when you drive down the road it is definatly more controlled. Ride is just as smooth but when hitting the dips it does not bottom out and through the corners it is much more controlled and I just have stock T-Bird springs.
