I have the opportnity to get the adaptor plates for the rims cheap.. i will do a hub swap in the future but for the price i mind as well. Ive heard good and bad. just want to see what you guys think. Safe or sorry?

Well then I will!I have no personal experience, but from what I have read they are not a good idea.
Think of it this way. One installs a washer on a bolt, this is really so it can be loosened later since metal on metal can bond.
Now by adding and adapter plate you are really adding a washer. This can create a situation where the rim can break loose. Its no different than using anti-seize on the lug nuts!
While they can work fine, there is a risk. With a Mark VIII that weighs a lot, well, I would not take the risk personally.
