Aside from it having plated cylinders, GT cams and a new Supercharger there's not all that much difference. Just a Jmod on my trans and I'll swap one of these puppies in my Mark in a second :D

Not really that big a fan of these blowers but this one seems to make me rethink a bit

I haven't seen the bore and stroke specs, but I wonder if this is actually a 351 cubic inch engine like the old pushrod 5.8L (351-W)? It would be seriously cool if it were. The new Boss 302 is actually 302 cubic inches, justifying its "5.0" liter badges. Whereas the old pushrod 302 was actually 301.6 cubes and 4,942cc's. Not quite 5 liters, and shouldn't have been rounded up to 5 liters. Ford was a bit optimistic in the olden days:D A true 302, however, displaces 4,953cc's, or 5 liters rounded up. Close enough for government work. If the 5.8L is based on the 5.4L block, and the 4.17" stroke is unchanged, the bore would have to be 3.661" to give a displacement of 351.17 cubic inches. Anybody know the bore/stroke specs?

i wonder if it would fit under a gen 2 hood? it does have the same location motor mounts as the 4.6 and the same bell housing. if i was rich...

From wiki:

A 5.8L (5808 cc, 354 CID) DOHC 4-valve Modular V8 is introduced with the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. The 5.8 L's bore and stroke are 93.5 mm (3.68 in) and 105.8 mm (4.165 in) respectively. It is essentially a bored-out version of the 2011-2012 GT500 5.4 L, retaining the 5.4's PTWA-lined aluminum block. The 5.8 L benefits from cylinder heads with improved coolant flow, Ford GT camshafts, piston-cooling oil jets similar to those found on the 5.0 Coyote, new 5-layer MLS head gaskets, a red line increased to 7000 rpm (from 6250 rpm), and a compression ratio increased to 9.0:1 (from 8.5:1). Boost is supplied by a 2.3L TVS supercharger. At the time of launch, the 5.8L will be the world's most powerful mass production V8 and will propel the 3,850 lb GT500 to a 202 MPH top speed, it will also remain gas-guzzler tax exempt.

Will not fit. No way. That being said if I were to go nuts on a Mark I would seriously consider a Coyote motor and twin screw. But for that cost I could trump the HP by taking a Teksid, throw the $1800 Livernois bore/stroke kit, $600 for some C heads, $400 for all the Cobra intercooler stuffs, $3000 for a Whipple 3.4 and fit it under the stock hood all while making 1200 rwhp on E85 or around 1000 rwhp on 93. :)
Guess I would also need the $2400 T56 to handle that cause the 4R70 will grenade the first time it WOT shifts to 2nd.

Wow. Wow. Wow. There is tons of cool there. Aluminum, most powerful V8 and a 200 speed club rating........ time to start saving my pennies!

I LOVE the new Shelby body and with that powerplant....... *drools*
Then think about a smaller pulley and a tune....... will be a ZR1 killer. Gawd I love Ford.

I just read the write up on it in the March issue of 5.0. It's rev limited to 6250 rpm but allows for temporary over rev to 7000 rpm. For when your racing.

Gotta be like an SHO issue. The motor can happily spin to 8000 RPM all day long but the alt and water pump and power steering pumps cant. :(

What do you mean it won't fit? Will it just drop in and hood shut no, but anything will fit.

Yes tons of that cool that most of us cant afford .

It may be a ZR-1 killer now. We'll have to wait and see. The ZR-1 makes 638hp and the GT500 makes 650. Don't know about power-to-weight, but they may be too close to call.

I think the vette will still be faster.....they generally are unless they have a :q:q:q:qty driver and start fishtailing (two turkeys video) :p:p:p.

What we need is the falcon...GM brought the commodore and monaro why didnt ford compete??

In the Hot Rod write up on it they said it made 670 if you took it to redline but Ford didn't want you to know that :shifty:

The 5.4 is also wider so in order to not be redonkulously top heavy you will have to mod the shock towers (ie; cut) and prolly do a hydroboost brake conversion. Then the real fun of steeing linkage and stuffs..... forget about AC too LOL.

Would be sick as fock, no doubt. But for the level of cost and mods, you can make just as much power with a properly built Teksid at a fraction of the cost and with no fab skills.

Heads, cams and that new blower would be a start :D

Yep, once forced induction is done cubic inch not so critical.

at $20,999 for the 5.4 version its still a tad too expensive with the coyote i was considering before the deal fell through but at a price of $7000 for 412 hp just add power adder of your choice. what i cant still believe is the 4.6 320hp costs more without intake, etc.

I have got to tell of you. If you want to save alittle dough. Get yourself a 5.4 and trans out of 2010-2012 shelby from the boneyard. Put a pulley and tune on it and you will have 650-700 hp. These cars came stock with 550hp. I have one and I have to tell you. It is alot of fun!!! To put this engine and trans in the mark would just be plain AWSOME!

Believe it or not, there are two 5.4L Supercharged at this yard:

One is a 2011 with 17K miles on it, the other is a 2012 with 37 MILES on it!!!
