i have been wondering recently...

Considering the LS is pretty well balanced with a pretty decent suspension, how fast is it around the track? I've heard V8 LS's will beat a GT stang around the twisties.. but really how fast is the car?

...I love my IRS

0 - 60 about 7.5 stock, and a mid to high 14 on the 1/4 mile. The LS was designed to be a foreign luxury alternative, so it was built to be able to go through a turn. The mustang was and still is pretty much a straight line max horsepower vehicle. Which is still awesome :D

agreed. I'm so glad the thousands that I've poured into my LS now let me run to 60 in just under 7!! so if I spend 15k, i'm figuring i can get there in 2.9? maybe :shifty:

ANYWAYS... I'm talking around the track. How fast is the car?

not fast at all, was not made to appeal to people looking for a speedster sedan.

High 14s low 15s depending ontrack and whos driving. A road course is even more dependent on who's driving but these cars handle quite well considering they weigh almost 4000lbs. Mine was exactly 3960 with me in it last time at the track.

if the LS body is Modified to fit on the Thunderbird's frame then maybe it would have a major weight reduction making the pick ups better and also better handling on the turns with less weight on the rear

pull the welder out and consider some fiberglass work...won't look like the original LS but it might look even better

The Thunderbird that shared underpinning with the Lincoln LS (DEW98 platform) was only produced from 2002 to 2005, and it was the T bird that was adapted from the LS.

if you look at a 2005 LS compared to a 2005 Mustang GT

the mustang only had 20 more hp and was 250lbs lighter. those differences were so small that on a road coarse - it was the driver making the difference. now on the strip - the 250lbs showed up more - but if the mustang had a full tank of gas and a box in the trunnk with some subs.....

+1 = the t-bird has no frame either. The t-bird is actually heavier - since they had to re-enforce the unibody to add back stiffness lost when they cut off the roof.
