Well Guys it looks like ford found a plant to make the 95-98 oil pans but they say the "TENTITIVE" date will be mid October.....Sounds like the HID promises of yesteryear!! Lets hope!!

I am pretty sure they are the all the same. I think they reason why 93/94 may seem different on the manufacturer end is that 93 and I thought early 94 used the multi-layer pans. I was reading an article about Ford using the metal/poly/metal layered pan to reduce engine noise. Later pans did not have that - cost savings...
 
i think the newer pans have a recess (filters sit lower) so that they don't suck air on hard turns-that'd be the difference from 93-94 pans

Im thinking your thinking of a transmission pan. The oil filter does not sit in the pan.
 
The 95-98 pans are in fact different, or I should say they're better. The primary reason for the leaking older 93-94 pans was the lack of extra reinforcement around the bolt holes. The newer pans have extra tabs welded in place to avoid deformation of the pan sealing surface.
 
No matter what, I am glad they are (maybe) going to be available, because my rusty 96 OIL pan (thanks, Mr correction) is a rusty piece of rust (NO leaks so far)-although it sounds like it is no fun to replace.

No fun at all. Even if you get a new one it may outlast the time you have the car. But really, adding a few more coats of enamel would not be a bad idea while its out. Do it right and it may be the last thing left in a hundred years! lol
 
Wish mine was rust free! Lol. Im scared to touch it!

I would ideally like to replace mine with an alloy pan of similar design. (if such a thing exists in OEM or after market - haven't researched it yet) Mind, an after market alloy pan might be $$$.

already have (gently) sanded it and painted it-when I had my 93, it was perfect, this 96 has a lot of rust under it-which I have been, slowly but surely removing and painting. Road salt, rust belt, Until I came on here I did not know that they could RUST OUT AND LEAK-I do not want to replace it, so I check and paint at every oil change:D

Ya, what's up with these pans. Its like they are made of paper-thin metal. I mentioned in another post long ago that when I swapped engines my friend ended up with my pan to clean up and paint. He found that is was just about to break through. Maybe another five thousand miles. So he welded it up and painted it.

But I looked today... rusting again.

ford should make every freakin part for these cars.... id be so pissed if i spent 40 grand on this car new and ford told me i have to go junkyard hopping for an hid bulb or an oil pan
 
Mines rusty but not leaking. What price point are we looking at for one?
 
If and when this "new" pan is released I'm buying one.... just in case this is the last time we can ever get them again...
 
We will see.
It will be spendy I bet, I'm not sure how much I would spend.
I might have to weld mine.
