Oil leak from the back of the motor

I have my mark viii jacked up to fix what a deer done to it and noticed a huge oil leak, it's coming from the back of the motor, not around the oil filter. Could it be the oil pan gasket, or the rear main seal? Either one it is the next thing to fix, I cannot drive it home leaking like that! And I should be able to get it on one of the lifts.

How hard is it to change either? Pulling the transmission should not be to bad, just replaced one in a grand cherokee, and 4 in the old explorer. The oil pan I read you have to drop the k-member, what is involved in that?

check the welds on that little side car on the oil pan, they usually rot

as for dropping the k it aint bad, support eng with body i removed the upper strut mounts, disconnected steering column from the rack, unbolted motor mounts removed 8 bolts, its a E18 inverted torx.

Anyway didn't get a chance to look at it again, any tips for when I do so I can tell what is leaking? I'm going to wipe the area clean and see what it looks like in a day or two.

Maybe some are different? Never know with Ford! I have not had a chance to look at it again, maybe tomorrow I really didn't want to crawl under the car while pulling the frame horns out!

No, they're all inverted Torx, just that some people don't use the right tools.
