oil filter adapter gasket

Hi all, Just purchased an oil filter adapter gasket that I want to replace on my 93 Mark and before I tackle it when I do the next oil change is it a straight up job or is it a PITA? Thanks for all info I may get.

Hey Torquemonkey, Thanks so much for the fast reply, looks like I'll be doing it in a week or so, almost time for an oil change and I might as well put in a 180 degree thermostat seeing that I have to drop the coolant.

Yeah, sorry, but it's a PITA. A good socket set with some extensions should be handy. Wear mechanix gloves!!!

Yeah, I kind of had the feeling that it was going to be a PITA. At least with the replys I now know what I'm getting into instead of going in blind and doing a lot of cursing, at least the neighbors will be happy with that. Thanks again.

I let my mechanic change that gasket when it started leaking on my '93 Mercury Grand Marquis.... and there is a LOT more room to work in that car than on a Mark VIII.

I thought it was pretty easy to do. Get extensions, take the l/f wheel off, and go in that way with the extensions, makes it alot easier. The only tricky part is holding the gasket in place while you are putting the bolts back in.
Also, be careful with the wires that go to the oil pressure switch, alot of people have acidentally gotten them pinched between the housing and the block.
