Ok so I drained the radiator drained the oil. Spent 2 hours getting the four 10 mm bolts out. I'm not an all star mechanic by any means, but this job is killing me in trying to take my time and walk away and come back later. I'm having a hell of a time getting the hose off of the thermostat housing so I can get the assembly out of there and clean the surfaces and put the new gaskets in its jacked up and on stands front left wheel off for the 4 10mm's. It's a bit chilly here and it seems to me that these hoses are original and or on for a long time .
Is there a smarter way to get the assembly out after I got the four bolts out? Should I focus on just getting the hose off the adapter gasket or take the other ones off the thermostat housing too? Advice would be appreciated thanks guys

It sounds like you're doing the ofag in a pinch i don't take off any hoses just clean everything in the car

I dont know what that means but...
I definitely shouldve just taken the four bolts out and slid the new gasket in a d not worried about cleaning the mating surfaces. That decision led me to having to take off the thermostat hoses and that was easier said than done. This morning I bought a pair of flexible hoses clamp pliers and I was done in an hour. Replaced the thermostat while I had it out , put fresh oil in,flushed the coolant system very well and put new coolant in. It definitely runs better and I'm glad it's over I hate those spring clamps but the pliers were the key. I never even knew they existed until I did a little research.

Pinchin fags aint my thing ;)

Oil Filter Adaper Gaskes

I was saying that normally I just cleaned the mating surface without taking any hoses off

It's still quite the squeeze. Hopefully I won't have to do that anytime soon again. Lessons learned though with not wasting time unless im properly equipped.

I'm lucky I caught the antifreeze mixing with the oil, becuase it couldve meant a catastrophic failure. This may be a 800 car, but its the best money I ever spent.i thoroughly look forward to driving it every time .

This winter my truck was down for A few weeks and I ventured out in a montana blizzard. I was extremely impressed how it handled in the snow, and I feel safe and confident to do so again.

The 90s made solid vehicles i.m.o. and these are an iconic vehicle that is worth keeping alive
