my tranny shot craps today. i was drivin along at 60 mph and it jumped back down into first. its been there since. its probably something in the valvebody, or an electrical issue, ie solenoid servo . but either way, 145000. its time for a rebuild. if any one has any recomendations on torque converter stall, shift kit, (not the j mod) or anything else please tell me SIGNED STUCK IN FIRST :Bang :Bang :L :bash: :bash: :bash:

Your silly for not liking the jmod, there is nothing better for the tranny. Other shift kits may shift hard, but they can be hard on the tranny.

i like the transgo shift kit personaly

Avoid Aamco they blow :D

i have a really good tranny guy, and i agree with the aamco suggestions. trans go does make good stuff. any body have any suggestions on stall speed? transgo shift kit in my truck, and i can not kill it,with dacco 3,000 stall converter, and trust me i try to kill it!

becontrols is way better kit comes with upgraded parts for torque correction
Also Greg helped make the 4r70w Best kit and parts none better

Mr 'J MOD' himself certainly doesnt!

Having just read all threads relating to shift kits, seems there are only 2 conclusions: J MOD or Baumann.

stall speed ?:bash: its a daily driver so i dont want to chirp everytime i hit the next gear but i want to feel it more than the original, 2500-3500. im guessing 3000. any feedback would be great.
:headbang: :headbang:also i know what brad tc im gonna use, dacco, cheap and very dependable

+ 1 billion and 1!

I have a Baumann tranny, shift kit and a Midwest converter. I have yet to scratch my tranny, ask Luke (slowmkviii) I'm not easy on transmission, #5 in this car and I think I finally found a good combo! To bad the car totaled.

If you want transgo I have one in my garage F/S. I was going to put it in my 4R70W but went with Baumann instead.

how does it feel with 2800, i want it mean but not too mean, but meaner then most people would deal with. i WANT the girlfriend to complain when she drives it, u know ? probably 3000 is what i want

around 3000 is fine, I wouldnt go higher.

everyone thinks my car is broken because it sounds like a small dog barking on every shift.

talked to my tranny guy today. he said RnR plus rebuild with 3,000 stall, and transgo shift kit. $1350. sounds good! but he wants to look at it first he says its probably a sensor in there, easy deal. i might just do that if thats what it is and do the TC and shiftkit myself.:hump: :hump: :hump: :hump:

I still say stay away from transgo, but its your car. if you do get a stall DO NOT get one from Edge racing converters. They wouldn't work with me when I had a problem with my stall. I ended up having Midwest rebuild it for me and now its perfect.

i have a local (local to me) guy who sells everything for any tranny. im gonna go with the dacco converter eventually. also stay away from BnM converters they are bad news.:headbang: put one in my truck, 1200 miles later they sent me another, after i raised hell. 800 miles later, i killed it. turned to the dacco. ive been through two seasons of mudracin with this tranny so far. and it still hits hard as hell! also the truck has transgo shift kit, red racing clutches, hardened planetaries, the return in the pump has also been enlarged. with this tranny ive killed 2 motors, im on my 3rd now. it is also a chevy, if there is some major difference in this fomoco product, PLEASE let me know.:steering :steering

I like dacco, I had a rebuilt in my last mark and dint have any problems with it. don't know about performance but good for every day driving.

It's nice to have a reputable shop near by. I had one by me rebuild mine and I installed it. It's a good way to keep the cost down and still get quality.

i can load the dacco in my truck and it comes up off the mud good. Angels has been building my transmissions since i were 16.

lol im sorry very tired am i the only one who found that very funny? I mean if you actually think and imagine it? I dont know ill shut up heh heh

i found out yesterday that i destroyed the second gear planetary. i guess it will be a total rebuild.

Bummer! That happened for number 3 for me, I got a tranny from a 97 and rebuilt that, and recycled the old one for 30 bucks. Put a bullet in it and call it done.
