Who on this forum would buy the flooded mark viii parts? I wouldn't feel comfortable selling them to people or putting them on my car.

depending on what the item was, sure.
anything i can take apart and clean.


the electronics are compromised obviously. but they are other parts.
LSC bumpers and side moldings. plastic gas tanks. anything plastic like that would be fine.
front quarter panels i could just wash, and i could use some. wheels/tires. etc.

Raceway Park is covered in Cars from Sandy now too.

My guys with a dealership (my key to being able to buy cars) have been in looking at all the older cars such as the T-Bird and Fairlane. They told me the Fairlane was completely under at one point but the T-Bird looks like icame up to the rims and thats about it?

Also on the CoPart site you can see what the estimated insured value was on some of street rods up for auction was. When you actually see the car in person all you can think is you wouldn't pay $5000 for this car if it was just for sale non flood! Then you see insurance paid 40,000 for it

The deal on this Bentley seems to good to be true but if I had the interior pics you would see that it was UNDERWATER. Such a shame but I was thinking this one wound be an easy fix...

However it is not a nice car detail wise and this is the one I think had a huge insurance payout on it too :shifty:

I can tell by looking at the glass that the Bentley was completely submerged. Most of the cars that have foggy glass or a white looking rear glass, have been submerged. Salt water doesn't do a car good. If you find one that went up to the wheels, that might be alright but a lot of things should be replaced, such as brake lines, bearings, etc.. rust will find them quick. Parts for the Bentley are going to cost big money. For the normal person, it's not going to be a very cost effective car to buy, unless you wanted to sell parts off of it. Then you have to think about what's on that Bentley to part out without ruining your name on eBay. Unless you got it for $1,000, no one will make any money off that car and fixing it back to normal is going to cost 50K-100K + the money spent buying it. Just think about that Bentley suspension being submerged in salt water for days, maybe even weeks. I think who ever does buy it is planning to take it to another country and rip someone off or maybe even rip someone off right here in the US.

If the car wasn't totally submerged its salvagable, even if part of the interior got wet it could be disassembled and cleaned out it just takes time. All carpeting and panels would have to be stripped out and washed and left to fully dry, blow out all of the electronics to dry them, power wash the whole undercarriage and engine compartment and thoroughly dry it..salt water can't do that much harm considering how much Midwest and northern cars see salt on a yearly basis for the lifetime of the vehicle..so long as it sill runs and drives it could be fine.

This one is sad to see.

That car went down and that water is setting under that carpet and doing it's magic as we speak. The dash electronics are all ruined. Someone would have fun replacing all that stuff because it's never going to work right again. Salt water and electronics don't mix well lol. Just imagine all the little computer boards and soldering, etc... inside that car. I personally wouldn't mess with it. Especially for w/e that price was you mentioned it was going for. I think someone, somewhere is gonna get fukked. It might be years before they find out about it though, could be months. I have a feeling that one will go to another country. I wished there was a way to keep track of it for the next year just to see what happens to it.

That's what I'm talking about. Parts for that car are going to be outrageous. Maybe someone is getting it to part it out and clean each and every part by hand. Maybe all water in the engine can be pressurized out for the most part and all fresh lubricants put in and get it running again, if they're lucky and then clean up the inside as best they can but I just don't see it lasting long. Either someone with money and access to other junked Bentley's is getting it or it could be going to an unsuspecting buyer in the near future. We'll never know.

Well I know body shops in the connecting towns that do just that with Bentley, Benz and Jags. It's just a car on this level is a new one for me :shifty:
