So I was just made aware that the dealership I work with signed up to bid on and purchase flood cars at a Auction yard 8 miles from my house. He gave me the heads up so I could look into the lot and see what I want. Of course LAID OFF and a 2013 BOSS NEW for almost DIRT MONEY

How do you legally flip a flood car? I thought they were good for parts only.

Ya get em re-certified but will always have flood on title. However for the price some of these cars are going for, they are ripe for being parted out!

That Bentley is at 16 G's for a car that was what 300,000 or so new? Oh it is new

Not to be a Debbie downer but I don't see any cool or cars with worth going cheap. There will be people with money in their pockets for every mustang, camaro, challenger and such. Can we find out what the Boss ends up going for then pass judgement?

Define dirt cheap. The Red Boss is already up to 15k and we've been outbid already.
That engine is not all that special, especially when exposed to salt water.

You know the auctions are global on these lots, and most of these cars will leave the country right ? Still almost a month to go, so don't sweat the low bids.

I forget what the Boss price was cause this stuff is making me cry.
Saleen price $3xxx.xx

Fairlane Convertible Conti Kitted $375.00

15 already? Damn that thing is moving faster than I thought I would be then? I am seriously gonna make a play for that Fairlane if it doesn't move up to high and a couple of the Packards there too :shifty:

Saleen is not bad price wise but I have to go and check it to see how deep it went under? When my guys were in there some cars didn't get water in the interior

They wont become scrap by any means thats for sure. I see cars and trucks in there that are scrap. All the nice stuff will be grabbed and even a lot of the scrap stuff too

Wow

I'll take the 57 Ford, and the T-BRD. Where do I pay? It hurts to see that T-Brd sitting in the mud.

I'm watching that 57 Fairlane as I can still afford it at it's price right now. The Beetle Convertible is already $2000 all the Ferraris are between 15 to 18 G's along with the Bentley.

Tons of 80 to early 90's Vette and most don't even have a bid on em yet :shifty:

How long before auctions end?

They have to have all of this clear by April.

Am I the only one who looked at the pics closely to try and find anything cool?

I tried but then I think, "I wonder if this car was sitting like this before the auction"

Insurance Auto Auctions Corp. has taken over the runways of Calverton Exectuive Airpark in Riverhead, N.Y. and has parked about 15,000 Hurricane Sandy-ravaged cars there, according to the New York Post. The cars will be scrapped, used for parts or auctioned.

The town of Riverhead is making about $3,200 per month for every acre taken up by the cars at the airpark, former home to the Gumman Corp., which assembled F-14 Tomcat jet fighters for the Navy.

Some worry that the deal is a case of short-term gain, long-term pain because, environmentalists said, the thousands of vehicles that will be on site for six to 12 months could leak oil, gasoline and other chemicals into the groundwater.

Jeanene O'Brien, a spokeswoman for Insurance Auto Auctions, based in Westchester, Ill., told Newsday that the firm adheres to environmental concerns wherever it does business. "We are definitely environmental stewards of any area that we occupy," she said.

An estimated 230,000 vehicles in the region were damaged or destroyed by Sandy, according to insurance industry estimates. Thousands have been stored in vacant lots in the area while officials process insurance claims.

New York law says the titles of damaged vehicles must be stamped "flood" to warn prospective owners of potential problems.

But buyer, beware: Saltwater can ruin computer-controlled fuel and braking systems, heating and air-conditioning, and other components.

To help stem auto-salvage fraud, the NICB recommends first examining the car for evidence of fraud -- are there signs of rust, water damage, mildew? It also suggests taking a close look at the title and ownership papers.

The organization also encourages prospective car buyers to use its VinCheck service, which runs a car's vehicle identification number through its database of cars that have been reported as salvages. Eighty-eight percent of auto insurance companies in the nation are represented in this database, so if a vehicle has taken a dip in Hudson River water, chances are you'll know.

I found a few Marks in there. There's a white Gen1 that's pretty obvious and a Creme but I can't see which Gen it is

Is it possible?

Kevin noticed this one has been painted and then there is the white one over there. Those cars started being parked at that airport back in November. I would really keep my eyes open because there is going to be some fraud happening out of 230,000+ cars.
