93MK is more or less referring to the part number.

Ford uses a part number system. The year the part comes out as new, the year is added to the part number usually. As revisions are made, an AA or AB, etc, may be added to the end. But the base part number, with year, remains the same.

So all Gen 1 Marks uses "93" headlights. Gen IIs uses "97" headlights.

93MK would have been used thru all 1st Gens, since they first year Mark VIII was model year 93.............and yeah, one of your headlights was replaced with a headlight made in 97.

what he said, all first gens will say 93 all 2nd gens say 97.

until they modify the lens in someway it will show the first year it was produced on the raised part. most alll cars are like this since 80's maybe 70's even.
