98 mark no start just clicks all power works lights windows radio ect. Battery is new I'm thinking starter if so what tools do I need to replace the starter and is this a easy fix how long?

Have you tried getting under the car and tapping on the starter with a small hammer, while someone else turns the key for you? If you try this, and it turns over, then the starter is pretty much 95% gone.

But, from what you've described, its a bad starter.

I'm fairly new to these cars as well, so I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in with location, tools needed, etc.

Tried tapping starter still just clicks a buddy says to let it sit for a while cool down and try again so we will see what happens tonight

I had one that would do that - no start when engine was warm. Let it cool and it would crank right up. Kept getting worse until I replaced it.

The top bolt is a PITA. Some leave it out when installing a new starter.

Is this something I can do with basic tools wrenches and sockets wd 40 and a few beers

Lol yea almost killed my self tapping it with a wrench earlier sparked up like crazy pretty funny made me jump up pretty quickly

i left it out.

Ok so I went out tried to start it again (cold start) was told this would work and now I get nothing not even a click silence, so does this mean I burnt out the solenoid as well? I have turned it over about 100 times today if that matters like I said batt is new and I even had cables to make sure I had power sorry about the rant just want to give a clear picture

Hmm. So the car still has power (from battery), but it just doesn't even click now when you turn it over?

Yea, starter is junk.

Yea not even a click like a car without a batt nothing at all but like I said it has a new batt and I even had jumper cables on just in case. Starter is toast! Looks like I'm going under tomorrow thank god for vacation days!

the starter is most likely the issue but why don't you test things instead of jumping to conclusions ? It may have corrosion in a terminal, loose wire, etc.
