No Speed limiter my A$$

I sit corrected......

Maybe the airbag (failure) light triggers a limit? Just grasping here. I was there with Lou when we were told about the limiters. Having access to the actual LS engineers was priceless!

Yea, because the system thinks it safe below 140 with the airbag light on, but if the airbag light was off then go as fast as you want because you're safe now

I plan to fix that soon. I took the wires out but the connector wasn't salvageable :(

Well duh!

An air bag is designed to deploy at 200MPH. Not taking into account the 2nd generation variable speed deployment bags.

As such, at 140, the bag would only deploy at 60MPH (200-140=60), since it's travelling the opposite direction of the car's travel. As such, a 60MPH deployment would not work well were you to wreck the car at 140.

Yes, I know the basics of physics and how the math I listed doesn't work out. Just go with it.

the speed limiter on the Gen1 was on any LS without the sport option - most came with H-rated tires - and was limited to 133mph.

We had several LSes out at an event several years ago - at an airstrip - used a radar gun - ~147mph was the top speed of any stock LS - even though we had lots of room left on the tach.

I ran the Texas 'Top Gun' event for two years - my first year (relatively stock) I hit 147, the second year (lowered, bodykit) I hit 153mph. This is all pre-supercharged.

Quik is always dead-on accurate with his statements. But I have to "pause" on two of them. The "Gen1 was on any LS without the sport option-was limited to 133mph". And "147mph top speed of any stock LS".

I have a Gen1 non-sport v8 auto. Only performance mod is the LSkoncpets CAI. I am lowered with ground effects. Mine isn't limited at 133mph. I did hit 147mph thou. Now, I did let up at that point. So I am not sure if the LS would go faster or not. Honestly, that was fast enough for me. So I can't be sure for every LS. I can be sure about mine.

Limiter issues seem to be the same with every vehicle. The factory engineers say one thing. Yet, several individuals seem to provide evidence to the opposite.
