Hello LS community. I've owned Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, Oldsmobile, Volkswagen but my 06 Lincoln LS so far is the best. I absolutely love the auto-dim feature. Extremely useful on the highway when someone has their high beams on. A lot of times I don't even realize that they have high beams on that's how useful this feature is!

Now, I noticed that my driver's side mirror and inside rear view dim but the passenger side does not, I've been doing some Googling and this seems to be the case across many different vehicle manufacturers. The thing is nobody is asking why was this done? Sure there are a few responses such as cost-cutting and increased visibility for the driver when changing lanes. But if that was the case, they'd cut it for the driver's side too because I also turn left, not just right.
So, I hail to you, all mighty gurus :gr_hail:, why did Lincoln leave out the passenger side view auto dim feature?

Yes they never had it. Why not? My first inclination is cost (remember they eliminated the "LS" on the rear door sills to save <$10 per car!). My Bimmer has the passenger side dim and frankly I never noticed it. IMHO it's not nearly as important on the passenger side as the driver's side.

This is my first vehicle with an auto dimming side mirror, and I love it. Only been blessed with the rear view auto dimming which is an awesome feature.

I've always wondered this as well, why only one side.

Being further away from me and being convex, lights don't seem nearly as bright on the passenger side to me. It's also further out in my field of vision
