nitrous wet kit pics installed

So what should I do? Epoxy the hole I made in the intake and move the nozzle downstream? HSW told me that with a wet nozzle there is always going to be fuel/nitrous distribution issues no matter what the placement and the further downstream the better fuel atomization but it becomes more volitile.

Hehe, when I plugged the nozzle hole in my old 94 Mark I cut out a piece of a Dr Pepper can and JB welded it over the hole. With a bit of sanding and a spray of the rattle can it looked fine. On my TBird I was lazy and now the inlet plenum says Pepsi...

They're right, there will always be distribution problems in an intake manifold designed to only flow air. But with the nozzle far enough from the TB, the problems are minimal. On a lot of intake manifolds there's no problem spraying right by the TB, but with the dual throttle bodies on a Gen 2 intake each essentially feeding the front or back half of the motor.....

Yeah ran N2O pass in third and @ 5500 it leaned out. Looks to be a little fuel delivery issue. gonna drop the tank and check the rubber fitting on the pump. Maybe even use a clamp. 98 I would either talk to the guy that installed your pump. I bet My issue is related to the pump fittment. Mine hasn't been surging like it has the last few weeks. I bet the zip tie failed or dissolved.

I'd run it to the back of the engine bay too, and cover it with some kind of wire loom. For the cops. You want your nozzle to be about 6" from the tb, and without any bends. the 6" inches being more important than the bend. I would also move the solenoids under the cowl or something. Hiding it from the heat and the eyes is the best way to go. That way it works the best and the cops or anyone else cant say anything. here is my engine bay.... find the nitrous. And yes I know its dirty and I have to clean up the welds on my intake. I just made a new one this spring and havent gotten around to cleaning it up yet.

Htrdlincoln, thanks for the offer, where do you have the intake tube drilled? If it's too far downstream i'll pass... I want to move it down maybe 6 or 7 inches no more than that...

How lean did you get spraying in 3rd gear and does it do it every time? Try running the nitrous tune?

My intake tube has th ehole beteen the MAF and the ribs. Probably further away than you want.
The one nitrous run I go thru 3rd gear the afr was low 13's and high 12's @ about 5500 it jumped to 16's so I let off. The more I think about this I'm sure its the pump fitting. Even running Na I can feel the car surge alittle over 110 Mph. Before I go to th etrack on sunday I'll drop the tank and check. If everything looks good i'm still putting a clamp on the fitting. I would suspect that the zip is either gone or broken. If the clamp doesn't fix the lean condition then #2 pump goes on. I will be checking the afr with the nitrous tune. When installing the sensor I had to drop the whole exhaust to work I used the rear sensor hole from the factory. It only reads the driver side but thats better than nothing. While it was all down I knocked out the cats. The driver side was no issue but the pass side has a bend at the end. That made it difficult so I cut it off with the porta band. I'm going to get it welded today.

OK Dropped the tank a few hours ago and inspected the pump. Not sure what I was thinking of earlier when I said I zip tied the pump fitting. Its plastic i must have been think of the tubes and wires I zip tied. So then when I first installed the "focus" pump nothing was done about the loose fit??? NOW that everything was down What to do????? Best I could come up with was O rings off an LS1 injector (donated by my friends car) it fit snug on the outlet tubes from the pump and basket, Then tighten down the plastic fitting. Re-assemble and test drive. Some as before. Lean condition. Ran with 150 shot tune Same lean. Whats the word on this second pump??? bigger injectors what does everybody think. I know I need an electric fuel pressure guage. on nitrous it leans @ 5500 Natural it leans @ 6400's. Pumps has less than 15000K on it

Dont think that an issue unless your really low on fuel. I looked at that as well the basket has a good size cut out on the rear for the filter bag and also on the front where the float arm goes out. Way more fuel than would ever be needed. Now if any one uses th ebasket that comes with the pump I got from Super coupe it could be a problem. It was much more closed off to the tank.

HMMMM.... I never let my car go below 1/4 tank, and if I'm going to be doing lots of WOT I try and have 1/2 or more...

Whops i love to go WOT in my mark when i have 1/4 to 1/8 a tank left it feels faster and lighter i know it's hard on the fuel pump but is it that bad?

No, it's bad for the fuel pump because the gas is what cools it but it's not bad for the motor unless the fuel pressure starts dipping.

So as long as the fuel pressure stays up its no problem running with a low tank?

SO long as you dont mind replacing the pump...

I did that exact same thing when I was "numbers chasing" in my first gen.
Ran the car low on fuel every time I was at the track..like a dumbass.

Then one day just before round 1 of our weekly points race.. my fuel pump crapped.
The car was 150K miles when it happend, at at 300K I pre-emptively changed the pump so I wouldn't get caught with a dead pump before round 1 ever again.

After that first failure I never ran my car low on gas ever again.
Even at the track I went with a FULL gas tank and I ran my BEST NUMBERS with that full gas tank.

the positon of the tank in the chassis is in a good location to make the weight of the fuel help plant the rear tires on launch when the weight transfers....

Also consider that when you run your tank low on fuel, the pump has to work hard to "pull fuel into the pump, then push it up the fuel line".

When you have a full tank of gas the "pressure/weight" of the fuel makes it so the pump can use it's energy to push the fuel up the fuel line...rather than sucking it into the pump THEN pushing it up the fuel line.

Try this, take your car to the track with 1/8th or 1/4 tank. Make three passes, then go fill up your tank and go back to the track and make three passes.
If your experience is anything like mine.. your car will run AS FAST or FASTER with more fuel in the tank.

Give it a shot.. the results are eye opening.

great idea i will diff try it when i go to the track

My car runs faster with 1/4 tank than a full tank. But with the nitrous i'm definately running at least a half tank of gas for 1/4 mile runs...
