Since it was so nice in the area today I had to take advantage and wash the car..since this car for some reason likes to hold a gallon of water in every little crevice I had the air hose out trying to get the water out of the cracks of the tail lights..well while doing so I managed to pop off my little lincoln logo from the trunk lock cover..

Since the red paint was flaking off already I decided to strip it off and paint it the color of the car..I think it looks decent for a half hour job.

After the wash I cruised around and did the typical parking garage photo shoot for the hell of it, the pics didn't turn out too bad considering they were taken with my htc incredible..

How did you paint the chrome in the lincoln star ? I rubbed the crap out of the red with thinner it took of some of the chrome with it. So I used "chrome" paint and hit the rest with black. It looked like utter crap so I covered it with the cobrastar decal.

I got another one off ebay in bad shape but i dont want to touch it.

The chrome on the lincoln logo was actually perfect, it was just the red backing that was flaking off, but when it fell off it took a small bit of chrome with it, so I touched it up with silver, hard to notice unless you're 6 inches in front of it, but I was able to pretty much scrape the red paint off with my finger nail, and then I used rubbing compound to get the rest off..kind of tedious work but it turned out decent.

Damn, that's a good lookin' car. Like snapshots from a commercial. :D

haha, it was hard getting that perfect angle with the sun and a backdrop with no cars behind it..probably looked funny to anyone looking out their apartment window seeing me move my car from one spot to the next and hop out to take pics of it.

Thank you, Thank You ;) Not easy keeping a daily driver clean in chicago..thats for sure.

that looks good, painting the red on the trunk cover to match your car actually looks pretty damn good. i like the mud flaps. you guys don't need a front plate over there? i wish new york didn't have that law, mark viii's look so much cleaner w/o front plates imo.

Thanks! IL actually does require front plates, I just refuse to put it on because I think it looks retarded. I've yet to be pulled over for not having one, but I hear since Jan. 1st it's a $100 fine or something if caught. The car had the front plate bracket on when I bought it, but it came off within 30 minutes of me owning it lol. I'm getting the bumper repainted soon and having the holes filled in as well...and actually thinking about telling the body shop to shave the "lincoln" script on the front bumper too.

haha i hear you, i absolutely hate the front plate on these cars. but with the amount of cops by me, i'm not going to give them another reason to pull me over. i want to get the "lincoln" and "Mark VIII" removed from the trunk, have those holes filled and have the trunk painted, along with the front and rear bumpers. i think on the back w/o the badges it looks clean as hell.

yeah, I'd like to do the same to the trunk lid..but I can't bring myself to repaint something on the car that doesn't need it..especially since the paint is 100% original..it's too bad ford decided to put useless holes in the trunk when the lincoln and mark viii badges are glued on anyway..oh well.

Thanks all! I hate seeing a dirty car in the winter..I do as much as possible to keep salt off of it..

And yeah these 20 spokes are a pain in the ass to keep clean, the fronts are starting to pitt ever so slightly in the corners so I touched them up with silver paint to keep it from getting worse until I get my 16" thunderbird sport rims painted...still debating on taking on the challenge of a hub swap because I really want to find a set of 96-97 cobra rims for it, never seen a mark with them on it.

I hear these mud flaps are rare or something? They were on the car when I got it but I just leave them on to keep rocks and sh*t from kicking up and nicking the paint..

Oh ok, I I've always liked these rims, and you rarely see them on mustangs let alone tbirds, cougars and mark viiis..they would probably look better on a black mark viii but I think they still look good..deffinetly something different from the typical speedstars/cobra rs

i like em. and they are pretty uncommon too. i agree. those are the only two marks i've seen with em.
