Hey everyone,

I just bought an '03 LS V8 and I noticed a small orange rectangular light near the 10MPH mark on the speedo. It came on while driving through a parking lot at slow speed. I know it's not the MIL light but it's also not a symbol.

Does anyone know what this is?

If you don't have the Owners Manual you can down load it from TECH ARTICLES at the top of the page, wealth of information.

To the left of and below the 10 MPH mark is the brake fluid and parking brake waring (red). To the left of and above the 10 MPH mark is the high beam indicator (blue).
I've heard of some people adding radar warning lights in the cluster.

Yes, I have the Owners Manual and I did read through it. They were the best 6 hours of my work day :) There is no mention of the light anywhere.
I have tried to get a pic but it comes on intermittently and then goes out. I'm also pretty sure it's not an aftermarket item. Any ideas are welcome, unless you're going to tell me it's an alien tracking device.

so take a picture of it when you first start up your car, they all come on for a few seconds.

Ok guys,

The mystery is solved. So i'm driving home at dusk when the auto lamps came on. Mind you, this is the first time i've driven the car at night since I bought it. Anyway, the lights came on and so did 'the little orange light'. I pulled over and took this pic which clearly shows the gauge face has a crack.
Maybe someone has seen this before?

Thanks for your help and interest on this one.

Probably, you have a scratch on the back side of the dial and the back light is shinning through. It's certainly not a factory feature.

like joe said, it looks like a scratch. does it get bright and dim with the dimmer switch?

x3. Maybe previous owner was trying to do some "custom" cluster work and screwed it up.

Is that a camera problem, or does the color really go from green to white as you go up the dial? It should be uniform.

Yes, it does look like the previous owner tried to MOD the gauges. The lights do fade with the dimmer. The discoloration is likely due to the iPhone's camera since the gauge color is consistent.

Thanks everyone! I am enjoying this forum!!

Really pushing these caliper covers lately aren't we lol

I'm going to pull the gauge cluster out and cover the crack with either black touch up paint or some type of adhesive material. Has anyone ever seen white face gauges for these?
