new tires

toyo proxes t1r's. people who installed filled them up to 38 lbs, but on the label inside the driver door it says tires should be at 30. do you think this could cause quicker wear on suspension components or something of that nature? what do you think i should keep them at? i understand on the label in the door they are referring to the oem tires (firestone firehawks).

It may cause the center of the tread to wear down a lot faster. This happened on my Falkens on my Mark VIII. I would put it closer to the 30 psi.

finally somebody responds. i went back and asked why and he said 35-38 were recomended for that specific tire and noted that if they were over inflated the center of tread would wear quickly and vice versa if they were under inflated. i'm keeping them at 35 psi and the ride smooth as a whistle and as quiet as a pin drop, they grab the road and are great when its raining. i recommend other than the psi requirement

38 lbs seems high. I'd start with OEM 30 lbs and tweak it from there.

I would listen to the tire manufacturer. The door sticker is for factory equipped tires.

According to Toyo's Web site, you're supposed to go with the OEM tire pressures unless your new tires are a different size than OEM. In the latter case, you're supposed to talk to your Toyo dealer about what the appropriate pressure should be.

Definitely. Over inflation will cause the tires to wear down toward the center of the tread pretty fast. Take it back down to oem recommended limit.

32 to 36 is the recommended air pressure. This allows room for temperature change.

well i called consumer relations at toyo tires. the lady basically said, the recommendation on the door jam was the lowest to have the tires at and that it would be the most comfortable ride. i told her, the toyo dealer put them at 38psi and she said sometimes they do that because they believe it increases the tread life. although she did not recommend a certain psi, she said it would not hurt to have them at 38. she said it will cause a stiffer ride. she said to choose a happy medium pretty much, and that less air should not create the tire to wear down on the outside more than the inside and vice versa. so since i'm going to keep them at 32 psi for the intown driving especially since that is the vehicle manufact recommendation, as far as interstate driving i will increase to 38.
i'll post if i have a crazy blow out and if anyone else is using proxes t1r's let me know what your psi is and if its high speed driving or slow
