i had hooked up 2 jl w7 with 2 1000/1 in my ls and it seems that it doesnt hit like i thought it did does jl look for sound clarity then the hard hitting bass

Those subs should sound load no matter what. You have to have a custom made box for those or they won't sound right. Make sure you get them tuned, find a local car audio shop where you live they will do it up for you, I would port those bad boys in the LS, lots of air space in the cabin.

Taking a guess here and thinking you got 2 12s

Boxes aren't hard to make, materials will cost like 30-40 bucks assuming you have all the tools to make the cuts. Check google for some EDU's on how to do it because you will get overcharged out the ass at a shop. If you don't feel confident enough to try it yourself, try looking for some people in your area on various car audio sites.

its in a sealed box but its kind of small to me

let u`r seat(s) down. and get some tint if u dont have it done already so that no one can look in u`r car and see the seats down. i have the little section of the seat down and its like night and day with the seats up and down. i wish there was a lil trunk entry latch from inside the car so that i didn`t have to let the seat down. but oh well gotta work with what we got.

For overall quality of look and sound, it would be best to have a custom ported box into the cabin. underneath your back dash is either a place for speakers(some lss have it) or just some metal and insulation. have it removed and have the box ported into the back dash. If your cheap, lay down your seats and keep the sealed box. JL require something like 1.5 cu. ft per speaker.

i mean everything like in the trunk but i really dont know how big 1.5 cu is so im like the box looked kind of small for 2 subs i wish i took pictures because there still working on it. but the guy told me that it was going to be hard to give it all the air space it needs because of the trunk of the ls. but i was saying wouldnt it still hit hard i mean i had the volume up to 72 on my eclipse avn6600 but i didnt check where the bass was on the unit.

Norty, as a dealer for JL audio I can recommend a few things to do.
1) Make sure you upgrade the electrical system (alternator, battery, and cables from alternator to battery and ground)
2) W7's are a sound quality sub, however, they can be very loud as well. Make sure if you are going for loud to have a ported box built EXACTLY to JL's specs. (they are picky)
3) Dynamat the hell out of your trunk and rear deck (helps dramatically with the LS)
4) Call JL audio's tech line to get tuning recommendations for the amps (some installers just do NOT know what the hell they are doing)

Follow these steps and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the W7s

ill gaurantee its because the alternator on these cars is only like 110 amps and the car uses so much of that, that the 1000/1 isnt getting what it needs ive been in car audio for more than 12 years now and you need to get that alternator rewound by someone like alterstart they can set it up for 200 amps for 300 bucks. stay with sealed box that amp with correct voltage will puond it and stay clean. small sealed boxes require more power to function well and id say that amp is awesome but very hungry for power

maybe even try switching the wires around on one the speakers to make sure they arent cancelling each other out that happens alot i just noticed u have two of those monster amps! you have to get that alternator rewound FOR SURE. each one of those draws more than our cars can dish out google alterstart thats whos doing mone in a few weeks so i can runs some electric fans on my car

ok i have a 180 amp alt with a smaller pulley. and i have 2 optima yellow tops with a batcap 400 and 0 gauge wire going in and 4 going out. im thinking when they let me hear the sound they said that it wasnt tuned all the way and i really dont think they had the loudness on the deck on either. and yes i dynamated the whole trunk to.

hey u guys come to find out when they let me hear my system my alternator went bad so when they cranked it up for me it was just running off my batteries they said that when they were hooking up my system the doors stayed open all night and day for 2 days straight then they had jumped start my car and the yellow top was fully dead so it put strain on the alt and blew the regulator so when they let me hear it the batteries wasnt getting no charge is that why it wasnt hitting that hard? their paying for a new alternator though i made sure of that. but i really wanna know if that was the case that they wasnt hitting that hard i mean they were shaking stuff in the garage of theres but not what i expected.

yea but can the jl specs fit in a lincoln ls 02 trunk?

try this http://www.diysubwoofers.org/talkshop/messages/41415.htm

I have 2-12" Infinty Reference woofers which I bought on sale for $100 for both at Crutchfield and Im running a lot less power than your amp and my woofers can rattle my brain. I have them in small, 2 seperate, .8 cu/ft fiberglass boxes (20lbs for both). Which can easily removed for more trunk space. I have the boxes filled with about 12oz of fiberfill and they play deep and loud.

Your setup should blow mine away.
