Got my new lights and installed them. I cut the low beam shield out and it helps tons, not over bright. Here is a good place for NEW Lights.
www.conquestauto.com then look for lincoln and go from there.
no more used lights. :)

93 Mark VIII mild mods but a blast to drive.

you shouldnt have cut the refractor out for the low beam but its too late now, basically all you did was turn your low beam side into a high beam. thats why the high beam side doesnt have one.

I was hesitant to remove the 'refractor' in mine, but I did & I am happy with the results. The highs are still higher than the low beams. With the HID's installed, removing the refractor helps to keep the temp down as well. The lense was cooler after removing them. The light pattern on the side of the car is kinda weird but there is more light.

I used trimbright on the inside of the refractor and omg is it bright, it isnt blinding either, but because I only rechromed one of my lights my hids are still in the high beam side.

Edit: As I figured, the tape on the inside of the refractor burned off. My hids are still in my high beam socket.
