How much HP the bug make N/A and what weight? This is first round of internet "Passtime" I will tell you what car should run 1/4,1/8 and 60ft. Now I have never seen a N/A 500hp vw motor and don't thank that one is pushing that. Most Big vw motors are 250HP.

Sweet Fox.

930hp on nuts alone?

More pictures and details is a must.

Blown Vega vs All Motor Fox.That would be one of those races that I would have liked to see on the original Pinks.

Ok here is teaser pic of engine.

Bugatti is produced by VW from my best understanding...

270 in 57 seconds is their record I think...

That freakin car is unreal. They had to redesign the exhaust cuz it was shooting out 11-20 foot flames constant. Also will drain the tank empty in 17 min at WOT.

Heres the Bug motor, we had to move to a Dominator and different intake after the 950 almost got sucked into the engine.

Hint it runs 1.38 60 foots on those little 60's.

I going to guess 9.80's My stang with my SBF N/A at 3050 went 1.383 best 9.83 @137 Here is the old powerplant. I built this one in 1990 and stepped on necks for many years with her. Engine little dusty. Sorry.

Hot stuff there man!! NICE! Your guess is wayyyy off, lol.

The formula is ET= 60ft-.17(dividedby).12 So your buddies 1.38-.17 divided by .12 comes out to 10.08 Now if your buddy is going faster then that he is not 60fting the car properly. Whats his ET and I'll tell you the 60'ft he should be doing. That means he's leaving alot on the table!

I know I have seen your Vega in the past. I was 17 in 1985 and had my nose in every car craft, hot rod, hotrodding this was even before MM&FF's! I read your post on your car. It must be a blast finding the mags with your car in it. Couple ?'s if you did some upgrading on the car to run single digits.

Have you upgraded to a min 10 point cage with cert, new 5 point SFI harness, window net SFI, 5 layer fire suit and neck brace, dual driveshaft loops, aftermarket axles ,SFI approved harmonic balancer,SFI trans shield,SFI flywheel shield, SFI engine diaper, SFI flexplate and got your comp licenses yet? Most Pro-street cars don't have these and you might need to be dumping some more coin. LOL

The suspension is of the pre mesozoic era so its got alot left in suspension alone. Believe it or not aside from a rear change from the original Olds/57 Checy rear to a 12 bolt this is the same exact suspension it has had since it was built in 1973.

Simple leafs and shoks!! lol. A nice update would make this car go 8's all day. Plus we took out the gears last year from a 4:88 to a 4:11 now with the small tires it traps like a beast!! Very streetable too.

YES it's the ultimate actually! What History!! CC wants to do a resurrection feature on it when it is done. I called them right away when I realized what I had found. They couldn't believe it!!

I remember this car very, very well. It was truly one of the originators, (if not THE creator), of the Pro Street movement
Very cool stuff!!

Heres some more killer shots, check out the 1980 one, fresh out of the paint booth, no door handles, caster camber plates haven't been installed yet, rims are still brushed not polished, no marker lights or door handles!! AWESOME!!

I was 12 when this car was created! Now I own it!! I LOVE IT!! lol

Here it is on the CC Street Freaks cover circa 1985.

vega-streetfreaks-cover.jpg

This car won the CC SMN's in 85 because of BEST engineered chassis and Best Engine. When I got it before I knew what it was I just thought it to be just another 80's Circuit Show Car? I looked underneath and saw NO frame rails..etc.?? LOL I got a hold of the original builder from his name in the mag and talked in great detail about this amazng car!! I told him "Why no frame rails?" He said there in ther just look real hard, LMAO! I saw why they gt the best engineered chassis, the ran the frame rails on top inside the car! Beautifully done too, looks stock inside!! But its all tied together. The car a 10pt cage that was original to the build. It will only need a few updates to get re certified for single digits.

The other unusal thing is the rear metal work on the 1/4's. Its ALL metal and lead welded!! Danny (original builder) told me that had a Rolls Royce Guy who restored them in town and that he did all the rear metal work by hand. Hand hammered 1/4's, english wheel heaven!! AMAZING work. Danny said the guy cut a clean square from the original 1/4's and hand made what you see, NO mud, NO nitrostain!! Unreal craftsmanship. I thought it would have had to have been all glass, then I noticed no bubbling etc?? Then when I found out about it being all metal I was like WOW!!

Gotta love it super history. :) I read in one write up it said it had a roll bar that why i was asking. You will need all that stuff on list. It adds up fast. LOL Footloose footloose bbaww ba baw baaw Everybodies gotta footloose. Gotta love ebay for finding old mags! Is there still a rachet shifter in there? Man those things eerk me. LOL

I thought you were the original owner?

I love it when work is done with craftsmanship.I for one don't have the eye to notice at first most of the time but when the owner of a car says that it was done with all metal work.Makes the appreciation level even higher.

Yeah it is cool man. Original owner?? lol I was 12 when it was built.

Yep, the first pro-street car were bad ass.
Back in 79-80 muscle cars were teenagers daily drivers.

In high school the lot was full of Chevelle's Mustangs and big block Mopars.
A Dime a dozen.
A bud of mine had a Cornet R/T 440 4 speed car he bought for $500 bucks.

The first 70s oil crisis and gas lines were on everybody's mind.
To go build a car like your Vega was insane at that time.

Wow wonder if it's the same Dominator Kit I am running on my Mark?

The Dual Quad setup was my 9 sec car runner...
