NEW engine

I share some of the same sentiments as Bill does. As a matter of fact I have recently gone to the same friend to replace my IMRC's as I didn't have the incline to do it. As far as investment is concerned I would spend the money. These cars are undervalued due to neglect and once brought up to standard can provide years of good service. If you have a car with a good body and interior it would be worth saving. Let's face it you will need to lay out another $1,500 on suspension rebuilding and brakes sooner or later. Throw in on top of that a new set of wheels / or tires for another $1,000 and your daughter will have a very dependable ride for a long time, or until she wants a new car with a big payment book LOL. Good job Dad

I agree on fixing one up. If you still enjoy the car, then why not want to fix it up if you can. How many times in our life, have we fixed something and know that it is in reality going to cost more to rehab than what it is worth. And most of the time we overlook that with desire and want. I have had many of cars in my past that were worth nothing in most eyes, but to I it was worth plenty. I say keep it and do with it what you want. In todays economy, even though I have the ability to buy new vehicles if I choose to, I will not at this time. At least until I see that the value of a vehicle can self sustain for more than a month.

2900 sounds fine to me. I'm curious who did the reman and what is coming on the motor, but consider if you had to buy another car and fix it up to where yours is, you could easily spend the 2900 on another car. If you don't have the time to fix it and you have the money, than good for you. I think you made the right choice :)

its your money and your daughters life you are talking about. is 2900 for a motor to get your daughter back and forth to school and where ever shes going in a car that is a lot safer crash wise and fuel mileage is good in these cars then a lot of other choices out there. its only money, if you can afford it then dont let it bother you! sure you could have got a strong running low mileage engine put in for a lot cheaper , but how much time would it have taken to find? get shipped to you? get installed? and then hope that it doesnt blow up on you right away or have other issues . at least you have a warranty to rely on.

I agree 100% on the last couple of threads. Its your car and your money. The price of 2900 for a remanand engine and R&R is normal price. Others and I where just stating different ways to save some money on the job. If it was not for you the reman engine companies would go under. And in USA we really can't afford to loose more jobs.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the comments, if it were the c/e I would and will be doing all the work on that car because it will be done my way in my time. But this will be done in a week and driving and with a warranty and if there's a problem I have a recourse. Now the c/e will be alot more money and 2900 will look cheap. I'm just hoping the old engine is salvageable or I'm back to looking for a core again.
