Hello all,

I just purchased a 2000 Lincoln LS with the v8 engine, 60k.

I am not familiar with this car, and want to know what some likely failure points are, (I've heard the transmission can be a weak point,)

so I can go ahead and knock out as much maintenance and make this thing last as long as possible

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Christian

The number one problem are the plastic cooling parts. They fail from heat and time. They will be full of micro-cracks that you can't see.
Since Ford has abandoned the LS many years ago they have also obsoleted all the cooling parts!

Spend some time searching this forum for details. Look for the forum member JoeGR. He has stopped posting now but he was a stone cold expert on these cooling problems and had a number of LS's.

Ignore whoever told the transmission was the problem. It's a dead common Ford 5 speed and it was used in millions of everyday Fords like the Explorer as well as the LS. So parts are everywhere and shops have been rebuilding these for many years. If you have transmission problems it's just a matter of money to repair it.

Be aware that the lack of cooling parts is the real issue and I don't know how your going to get around that.

I still miss my 2003 V8 Sport LS but with what Ford did I had to move on and now I have had several Jaguar's.
