Dang GM overrode the Internet manager at Elmhurst Ford and I lost my silver 06 elite to an old Bill from Chicago.

Now have my sights set on a black 06 elite :

Test drove it and all seems well (none of the usual problems). Couple of defects though, lemme know what do you think :

[11] - Rust/corrosion spot in engine bay (clean body otherwise)
[12] - Engine cowl logo is faded/peeled
[13] - Tear/scratch in leather of back seat
[14] - Shallow scratch on driver-side quarter panel - buffable?
[15] - Nicked/scratched/faded keyless entry plastic
[16] - Scratch on shifter knob (highlighted here in cyan)
[17] - Broken weather striping clips

What's the asking price?
Currently about 19.5k out the door with a 7y/60k/$0 deductable Ford ESP.
Car has 13k on the clock and is equipped with the elite package - so nav/THX and HIDs. Also has rear heated seats, parking sensors and side airbags.

that many little things on an 06 says alot about the previous owner. Torn seat, scratched door. Most people would fix or be more careful for a well cared for car. If he's not taking care of the outside ....i would definetly check the care record on the mechanicals.

Yup. Will be covering all my bases as best I can. CarFax and Autocheck are clean, will be doing a PPI at a nearby Lincoln dearlership as well as an independent mechanic that is well reviewed by CarTalk's mechanics files.

As far as I can tell, there are no mechanical problems - eg. weird engine bay noises, interior creaks while driving, hessitation during heavy acceleration, rough gear shifts, no heat at idle, etc.

Playa, I got my 06 LS Premium for 16k out the door. The only things it didn't have from yours was the THX/Nav and the Rear Heated Seats.

Mine had 33k on the clock and the car was in near perfect shape - 1 slight scratch on the front bumper.

I'm pretty sure I got a great deal on her, because several sites (Edmunds, NADA, etc) list the Dealer Trade-in value higher than what I bought her for. Carfax was completely clean, and it was a one-owner car.

Good luck in your hunt! There are some good ones still out there - have faith!

If you don't mind me asking what general area/city is this located. I looked at one with pretty much the exact same problems right before christmas time. Could be the same one if the location makes sense. Did you check to see if the heated/air seats worked on the passenger side? One I looked at didn't work.

if they are not going to bring the price down, till them you'll pay what they are asking for it if they in return fix every issue that you fell the car has. so if they can buff it for you fix the nickes and any other issue. if they arent going to do that will then till them its a pos and tell them you found better shape cars and dont be afeared of bring in the print outs of the other ls's with the prices. also even if the ls is more then 500 miles away tell them your willing to go that far for a car

just my two cents

I agree with tubby, but I think you could find a much better deal. That rust is something I would be worried about though.

I love the Black on Black LSes. When you drive off the lot, bring it to your closest muffler shop and get some bigger tips welded on. Those don't even look factory to me but I might be wrong.

I'm in jersey and 06 Ls's are every where. You can get one over here with 20k or under for 15,000. And there are plenty of black ones avaliable as well as silver and for some reason a lot of red ones.

first things first. The corrosion is from brake fluid being spilled while filling the master cylinder. Brake fluid will dissolve any and all paint. The other items are all extremely minor, the scuff on the seat you would need a microscope to see, the weatherstripping pulled out from the clip. you are being too anal, have him drop the price and just buy the car!!!

+1

And I would know bought a 9600 mile 06 in Dec

Looked at a nearby silver as well. Couple of tiny rust spots in the spare well, batt needs a charge, upper trunk lining is semi-hanging, cupping on front tires, dirty front seat backs, missing child safety restraint cover (the little plastic cover for the middle restraint) and rough lower front bumper (scratches underneath - probably from rubbing against the curb while parking).

Guy wouldn't budge much on price and all the he had say when I kept hitting him over the head with pictures that I'd taken the day before (spent ~1 hour looking it over slowly) was "But it's a used car" :p

used and abused, haha check the ocean for better fish

My friend just bought an 03 V8 sport, 59K miles, for 5900...resale is dropping fast and hard on these. I thought about selling mine and getting an 06 just to be under warranty but it doesnt even make sense anymore.

$5900? Salvage title or something? That is a ridiculous price. Something had to have been up.
