Of course always follow your deepest feelings, like on my birthday March 7th just a harmless trip to the movies (Atco multiplex for you locals) I decide to do a couple donuts in the back as i realized in mid swing i was directly in front of a cop!!!! I knew it i knew it i knew it!! Got me for wreckless driving. 5 frickin points, i think he cut me a break but COME ON!!!!

take it to court???? how do you get off that, i was blowing donuts in front of the cop but i feel he was too harsh on me judge???

Ask for a jury trial, after being on jury duty, I saw alot of guilty people get off for some BS technicality or other ridiculous stuff. When I was in high school I had a 69 SS396 4-speed Camaro and pulled out of The Beacon(The Place To Be in high school) and burnt em off and pulled 2nd gear and hit a wet spot in the road and spun it out about 2 1/2 360's and stalled the motor only to realize that I had come to a stop directly in front of a city cop at a liquor store. All this while I had a qt. of budweiser in between my legs,he let me get it cranked then pulled me over. 6 point Reckless driving and open container, my Dad was not pleased having to come get me out of jail. Don't worry, 10 yrs from now you will have a good story to tell.

i always go to court and ask to speak to the prosecutor..

tell him you dont really care about the fines ( since thats all they are really after) .. and could he please change it to a non-moving violation ( which would have no points)...even if the fines increase..

ive done this numerous times and always got out of the points.. paid way more in fines but you wont get the insurance and Dmv surcharges..

was he even allowed to ticket you since you were on "private property" ??

:shifty: You could of told the cop that your a psychic...and your spirit guild was Curly from the Three Stooges and he happened to be driving at the time. :D

Thank god for no "points" system in IL. I wouldnt have a license if they did...

Yeah what's up with points? I got a speeding ticket and went to court, they rescheduled and had the cop come in to "fight" his case. When he didn't show I won by default. Devilchild is right about the fines, thats all they want.

uh... I'm not sure how your state's laws work, but here in Michigan, an LEO has no traffic jurisdiction off public roadways... That means about all he could do is charge you (notice I didn't say ticket you) for reckless endangerment; a charge which wouldn't stand up very well if there isn't anyone around to endanger.

I would fight it, then file a complaint and ask the city to pay for your lost wages (but first verify your state laws!)

i asked my friend who is an "officer of the law" ...and he said they can ticket you because its not fully private property.. any parking lot is pretty much quasi-private( thats what he said)..its not off limits and anyone can come and go...

he also suggested you go to court.. he said they will probably drop to a 2 point ticket if not drop all points.. but your fines will increase
