Hey everyone,

I just had my car serviced for a broken radiator tube on my 00 v6. When I got it back, the car is running rough, so I brought it back to have the guy check the coils and plugs. He said the plugs and coils are fine and the computer is not reading any codes.

Does anybody have any suggestions or opinions?? I'd take any advice right now. Thanks.

I doubt that the actually stress tested the coils or removed and checked the plugs. I think he was just giving an opinion there. Have you checked the PCV hose?

Yeah I had the PVC hose and unit replaced about a year and a half ago, along with the valve cover gaskets. I was thinking about just taking it to the dealer to have the diagnose the problem. The guy I took it to owns a small shop not a high tech place. What do u guys think?

I'd do a check of the intake for any air leaks. If you can't find anything, then the dealer is probably the best option.

To rule out obvious vacuum leaks, go buy a can of starting fluid and spray it around the vacuum lines under the hood. If the car sputters, then you'll have a good idea if and where you have a leak, or if you even have a vacuum leak.

But the guy worked on the radiator, right?

Start looking around the radiator for any unplugged hoses, electrical connects, etc.

vacuum leak

if it was running good before you had repairs, most likely they did not get all the hoses back on tightly. you have a vacuum leak somewhere after the MAF. You should get a code for lean conditions both banks, if you have a leak. Are you a V8 or V6? How many miles? and what have you repaired?

yeah its a 2000 v6 manuel, I have crazy amounts of miles due to 2 hrs of commuting daily 170,000. I've had all the major things done to it; plugs, PVC, gaskets, new intake, ive chanced a couple of the coils but not all of them. This is the reason I think it could be a coil. There is no power from the engine. I was goin up a hill goin 35mph floored in second gear. I put some injector clearner in but that did nothing. I'm thinkin of just taking it to the dealer Monday becasue they have better diagnostics equipment.

if you have a vacuum gauge - it should be pulling 18-22 hg at idle. that would be my first test.

pcv

I've got the 01V6 with 113k miles, Now on my second PCV valve and PCV hose. Check your PCV valve hose that goes from the throttle body back to the rear of the engine, I found mine had split just below where you could see it, but with a mirror I could see the split in back of the engine.
