P0302 IS THE CODE. CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE. DO YOU THINK ITS THE COIL, DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE BAD GAS, BECAUSE IT STARTED RIGHT AFTER I PUT ABOUT 10 GALLONS IN. IF IT IS THE COIL IS IT PRETTY EASY TO TELL WHICH ONE #2 IS. I AM PRETTY MECHANICALLY INCLINED, WILL I HAVE A PROBLEM DOING IT MYSELF? TOOLS? IS IT OK TO REPLACE ONLY ONE. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. ALSO IS THERE DIFFERENT BRANDS AND WHICH IS BETTER? AND YES I AM DOING A SEARCH, BUT WOULD STILL LIKE YOUR INPUT.:feedback

stop shouting! ahah. CAPS = shouting.

but anyway, it could be a bad coil, but its more than likely your cam cover gaskets leaking if its a V8 (should always tell us what year and engine your car has)

Cylinder number 2 is on the passenger side, 2nd from the front.

Pull the coil cover off (6) 7mm bolts. You just need a 7mm 1/4 swivel socket and long extention to get to some of them

Pull the cover off, then remove the 7mm bolt holding in the coil, take it out and see if their is oil on the boot. It would be a good idea to check them all.

If you fnd oil on any of them, clean it all off and try and clean out the spark plug wells. (compressed air and brake cleaner works well)

You will have to replace the cam cover gaskets (they come in kits from the dealer with the spark plug well seals)

That job is a bit more intence and has been covered here quite a bit so if you do a search you might find some good info on the job.

Now this is all for a v8, im going out on a limb and assuming thats what you have.

Good Luck

Took the cover off, pulled the coil out and yes there was oil on the boot. I am now cleaning it out and am proceeding to the search so i can find out about the gaskets. i will be posting the link in this thread if i find it.

parts people

who on here sells the coils, i need them asap for a good price. i found some on ebay and i know the dealer has them. anyone else?

rockauto or panysniffer from ebay are the common sources

anyone know the brand name on the ones sold by pantysniffer? Cant tell from the ebay ad

says oem. i bought them. no stickers but all the markings matched my oem coils.

yep, worked fine. springs were a little long but worked fine anyhow.

can i reuse mine, it seems to be in very good condition, but i havent tried to take it apart yet?

there have been folks in the past who resused them and still had problems (possibly pinholes in the boots).

Finished
