So, my 96 has decided that it really doesn't want to hold oil in the pan any longer, and has instead started to leave it all over my driveway, as well as all the parking spaces I've inhabited in the last few days.

I've been seeing this oil pan gasket slowly getting worse over the last few months, with just a bit of seepage steadily creeping further each time I'm down there. I guess now it's time I stop putting this off.

So the thing I want to know is, what is the preferred method of doing this? Can I/should I disconnect the engine mounts and slightly lift the engine? Or is this a drop-the-K-member job?

Get something to hold the engine up (like a cherry picker) and dissconect the engine mounts then drop the k-member.

Once I saw a guy do it with the car on a rack and he dissconected the mounts and used a jack on the crank spout to tilt the engine up and he was just able to get out the old gasket and slide in a new one. Took many hours and he never stopped swearing.

do a search I know there are complete threads with Pics.
:)

Fooking hell. Hadn't even thought to try that first, actually.

Looks like I'll be doing the front sway bar while I'm in there :) Addco 726 look to be the way to go, correct?

Oil filter adapter gasket was done long ago on this car, and I am not spending $840 for a set of headers, is there anything else worth doing while everything's apart?

Yep I found that link. Thank you sir!

Motor mounts, check. After 195k I'm going to do them whether they needs it or not.

Actually, I was looking at doing that while it was down. Good read, thanks!

I was going to sand down the rusty spot and hit it with primer & undercoating, but I suppose I might as well do it right.

Does anybody know, are there Kmember bushings or anything to that effect that I should have on hand when I drop it?
