My turn...Fender Bender.

oh man that sucks; your car looks like its impeccable. Luckily the damage doesnt look too bad. new fender, pretty EZ.

It does suck when you get into a good accident though bc the ins companies want to total even the low mileage gen2s. the value of the cars has dropped like a rock, but the cost of parts hasn't fallen as preciptously. ins will low ball a gen2 to pieces if they total one... so yall should be prepared to fight them tooth n nail. look out for them using low ball comps that do not specify appearance packages & so forth. also pay exceptionally close attn to the features listed in the comps that you might have but forgot to list when the adjuster asked about it.

the only pro, is that if it isnt too bad you can buy your salvage back and fix yourself if youre so inclined. just know youre going to have to keep it until the wheels fall off to ever see a 'return' (in the form of avoiding the cost of buying a replacement vehicle) on your time and $ for salvage and parts. headlights really seem to be the biggest exterior expense on a gen 2. seems like everything else you can get for a semi reasonable price, you just might have to do some hunting.

Yup!

Fender is a used oem (which i prefer over a new steel) and the paint is ppg.

Molding did not need to be replaced and the door was repaired also, very hard to tell it was worked on unless you really look for it which is fine by me its not a show car.

Overall im very happy with results so far. Gonna let the paint cure and look for a place to do a nice paint correction. But before that need to take care of some maintenance. Time to overhaul my cooling system.

do you know what yr the donor car was? keep in mind there was a tsb on 2005 aluminum parts. very early corrosion on many vehicles that yr, and i have seen a lot less of the problem on other yrs. its usually minor, but if you see it pop up and get anywhere near like half the size of a dime take it in and have it treated w anti-corrosion (or do it yourself). the longer you let the bigger ones (abt half the size of a dime or larger) go untreated the larger they will get. also if the spot shows up on the edge of a panel its alot easier to stop it / repair it than it is with one in the middle of a panel.
