From entirely too much smiling!!!!!! I was shocked to find out what was hiding beneath those old Lincoln mufflers... WOW. In one morning, the Mark's attitude changed completely. What a screamer! :D

And, during my little video shoot, I got to find out that all of my brakelights aren't happy with my new headlights. Ah well. These amazing cars have more than one way of getting under your skin and this one will be under mine forever. Oh my. :p

Also noticed that the tips look a little like they are tilted towards the center of the car, but I went back outside and they don't really seem so. The shop I chose for installation seriously rocked, too. The '98 is going next...

Lastly, apologies for taking the Lord's name in vane. At the time, those were the only words that immediately came to mind ;)

Damn that sounds good, I can't get over how clean your car is. Nothing classier than a nice shiny black Lincoln

I couldn't agree more. I just love the looks, sounds, and feels of these cars. :p There was a guy getting some weird mods done to his strangely shaped mufflers and he about wet himself when the guy started my car. I think he had a silver RS8 or something. It seems like folks with ricers have to go to extreme lengths to try to get them to sound decent and all I did was swap mufflers!!!! And it's the REAL deal. Ya. I'm thrilled. Still can't believe it!

Sounds good!! Why is the neon flickering while it's going down the road?

Well, that would be because I have an issue with it that I didn't realize until I made the video. It's not happy with my conversion back to HID, but it won't last long. I'm on it!!!! :shifty:

Was that car ever repainted? It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor!! I hope the blk on blk 97 I bought looks half as nice as yours after I get it home and repaint it. I'm not sure how your HID's tie in with the neon issue?

No. The car has the original paint job. I've been polishing and waxing the daylights out of it because it had water spots from the previous owner. I've been using the Turtle Wax Black Box and detailer with black pigment. Works GREAT!! Ya, I suppose my brakelight issue may not be related to the headlights, but I don't think it happens when they're off, so it might be. It does seem to be the entire signal to all of the lights, though. I was just going to go check out the wiring diagram and see...

All the lights are doing that?? Perhaps you have a failing alternator?

Nope, only the brakelights. But that includes the 3rd brakelight, neon, and regular brakelights. Crap. I can't spell anymore. Sheesh.

I'm hoping that one crummy wire sends the signal to all three sets of lights and that's the culprit. Everything else is fine.

You are a better person than I. I would have come unglued if that guy put his nasty glove on my bumper like that!!! Just think of all the metal shavings it has on it.

Ha ha!!! The other guy was doing the welding and fabricating. The owner was positioning the mufflers. You're right, though. After ripping around on the freeway with my new happiness, I went straight home and removed the fingerprints!

I swear by that utrtle wax black that is good stuff. If your happy with the sound of those LMS muffles you should do a couple more videos. so we can all get a better feel for how they sound. maybe some high engine revs :) you know because thats always fun. and a drive by to and from sound.

I will certainly do some more videos. I need to see if the neon is or isn't related to the headlights ;). Besides, I want to hear and see it more, too :D

You could try two things. Disconnect the neon and see if your problem goes away. If not, it could be a simple brake light switch. I bettin on the brake light switch.

Hmm, brake light switch would be handy. I have some other issues as well that include an intermittant pan/tilt function on the steering wheel, including not functioning properly when the computer tries to reset my driver 1 settings; daylight sensor for gauges when operating headlights during the day (dash dims like night); and I also got a very brief autolamp off alert while just driving down the road with my lights on. I'm thinking that just maybe my SCIL is crapping out. Please tell me if it is that I can reach it through the glove box opening. I REALLY don't want to tear the whole dash out. Thoughts?

1 - Spray some crc in the switch for the column. That may correct that problem.

2-I think just about everyone has had that autolamp off message from time to time. Someone made a post a while ago about it. Just ignore it. Not a big deal.

3 - I don't think it's the SCIL. Try the easy and cheap fixes first :)

Okay, thanks!!! I'm also thinking that the HID kit I used only had one input for both lights from the car. I've been throwing a Check Headlight code everytime I turn them on because nothing is connected to the left headlight plug. I ran these straight to the battery and they are fused with a relay. Any thoughts on how to include the LH input into the mix without trying to completely separate the kit into two relays and two separate power runs?

Here's the diagram, although the high beams are not included.

Sounds awesome! Been thinking about putting some cheap mufflers on to replace the submarine stockers.

Any drone? How's the volume when puttering around town compare to stock?

There is some drone. It is definitely louder in the cabin than before, but I'm okay with this because I get more out of the sound without having to put my foot through the firewall now. I tested it on the freeway and it is fine when just cruising. It is something else when you step on it, though! I was worried, at first, that it might be too throaty and not 'Lincoln' enough, but not anymore. I will try to get some interior as well as exterior audio/video so you can see/hear. The sound from standing on the curb when it goes by is PERFECT. It's not too loud at all, but it certainly sounds like the muscle car that it is hiding.

I'm buying another set for the '98. It is such a major improvement over stock it's not funny. SO much better looking, too.

Laurie... I knew you had ordered these but I didn't know you'd have it installed that quickly. Congrats. Looks/sounds awesome!

They were seriously burning a hole in that box! I couldn't wait to get them installed. I was hoping they wouldn't stick out too far either, and they totally don't. I liked the idea of bringing out the growl, but I really don't want to over do anything on this car. It's like that stupid Mark IX or X prototype, sometimes a little black dress just needs to be left alone! :shifty: :D

Thanks, Alex!!! HAPPY :p

I just did an interior video for those curious about whether the car droned or not. I don't think drone is the right word. The more I drive it the more I like it... ALL of it. It's very polite on the freeway and very fiesty getting onto it! It gets noticed in surface traffic, but it's far from being obnoxious. I agree with Geno, these mufflers are a perfect compliment to an already smashing creature.

Sorry for the boring video :shifty:. I figured the phone would pick up a little more audio, but you can tell from the volume of my voice that the sound is very reasonable in the cabin.

INTERIOR AUDIO

Oh, and my neon repair went extremely well today. I discovered the very thing that everyone talked about, that goofy metal shielding had completely corroded the grounding screw. So I used De-ox it on it, found a new screw, cleaned and sealed all of the openings and wa la. It's working perfectly. I think that I got lucky and that very little moisture actually entered the interior. And the car will NEVER see moisture again. Well, not from rain anyway :D.
