Ok, so I replaced my water pump and yadda yadda it was overheating and getting the "low oil pressure" light so I brought it to my mechanic.

Now because I couldn't get my crossover cap off I had to fill it through the overflow tank, running it w/ the cap off, then putting cap on, then off, I don't think I got all the air out. the crossover cap is a 1/4 socket people have said? I'm gonna go see if I can pick up my car before work Saturday and see if the thermostat was the problem, if not, is bleeding the coolant system standard on all cars? Because he knows about marks just not as much as I'd like, oh well maybe I'm paranoid and had a few drinks

That is not the way to fill it, so yes, LOTS of air is still in the system. Try a vise-grip or a CAREFULLY placed plumbers wrench. It will come off, its has to do this right!

Guarantee that the trapped air was the problem, t-stat is fine. :(

You could buy a new crossover tube. It's a more expensive solution, but it'll get the job done.

I'll go pick it up tomorrow before he can work on it then. I'll do a search on the proper way to do it as well, on an elevated driveway, fill from crossover, til overflow full?

But wait, would that have anything to do with the low oil pressure light?

The oil thing is a problem. From what I have read a few times, you see that light you may as well kiss you engine good-bye. The low-oil level message is not so bad, but low oil pressure can kill the 4.6L. Ford has the sensor pick up low oil pressure too late.

I would not drive it til you check the oil, its condition, etc. Did you replace the oil filter adapter gasket ever? A couple guys got the oil pressure sensor wire pinched and had a false signal.

No, I haven't replaced the oil filter adapter gasket yet, I had planned on replacing it at my next oil change, but I don't leak oil. I had driven the car 5 miles since I first got the light. I went down and left a note for the mechanic about the coolant, and told him about the oil pressure.

Oil level was fine, about 2 months old, wasn't burnt or anything

I first got the light when I was in the driveway straightening the wheel, and it never came back until I overheated yesterday. When I had to start the car to get into position for the tow truck it wasn't on, and when I had to pull it into the mechanics lot it wasn't on, it better not be a crapped engine.

This car has no in between, its like its running like a champ with absolutely no problems and then not drivable, and this stuff just poof magically appears, its not like I'm ignoring these problems and complaining when the car finally dies, oh well we'll see

While I was stopped at a light at probably the biggest intersection on that side of the city I was on, I heard a clicking, like diesel engines have, that clicking clugging, its hard to explain, it made that sound for about 3 seconds before I shut it down and got it towed

just turned 400,000

SIKE! Nah actually just turned 117. My mechanic fixed the problem as well.

For 30 bucks he changed the oil (with synthetic, WOW) and bled the system & added coolant. ( i tipped him last time )

Because I was filling through the overflow tank, it would only take 1 gallon. When the car overheated my mechanic said the oil got really thinned down and that caused my low oil pressure. I went on a nice 40 mile drive to test it out, including a few dashes up and down the highway, and lots of idling, and no low oil pressure light and the needle didn't go a notch above the bottom of the M. I'm safe to say the problem is solved and my engine isnt blown!

Thanks to everyone on here especially unity jmiles and ford nut, who have been instrumental over the last 3 weeks with these hopefully minor bumps in the road, because god knows my aging air ride doesn't handle well with real bumps in the road! :V

My sister needs to be picked up at 1am est, so you KNOW i've volunteered for that!

I ordered some precut window tints on ebay in celebration. I'm 99% sure I wont be able to install em to a point where I'd be happy but who knows!
