My new [old] car

Drove the three hours to Staten Island [New York] yesterday morning and test drove/put a deposit on the Mark. Guess im in the lincoln club now :(

Cars in pretty good condition, and the newest car i've owned by almost 10 years. First modular motor as well.


Plans are:
4.10's and one piece d.s
Exhaust, so i can hear if the damn things running
new radio cuz i hate the dual decks.
tints and subs.

Ive noticed a lot of people mention upgrading to the 255 pumps, and was wondering why so quickly, even with bolt ons the stock pump should keep up...shouldn't it? and with the bigger pump wouldn't i need better psi regulators?

any other details appreciated...and compliments too...i passed on a 6 speed cobra to buy this because it was more responsible...
 
Good looking car. That color looks awesome when clean. Keep us updated on the progress.
 
yeah. Still a little bummed but this leaves me cash to get moving on my mustang.

Progress will be slow and hindered as with most things in the world, but gears should be done by the end of February, and with a little luck the radio/remote start [finally a EFI automatic], and the integrated radar detector my g.f got me for xmas by the end of this short month as well.

yeah i was just reading your post. Its probably quicker for you to get to staten island then me, im out in Amagansett Long Island (just west of Montauk)
 
ALSO...as i am finding out that it is not likely an LSD as i was under the impression... i do have a spare IRS trac loc, but it is 31 spline. Would cobra half shafts work or where would i find 31 spline axles for these cars (assuming that would be cheaper then buying a new carrier but never know)

guy claimed i could do it in two hours, and then argued with me when i said he was wrong. Almost didnt go see the car b.c of that alone.
Left 5.30 am, arrived at 8.35 am.

Nice LSC..... it has a few dings.

All Mark VIII's have an open Diff.

Do a little searching I believe Mike has a thread on 31 splines and cobra half shafts
 
looks very nice but why does the ingition look like its next to the radio and not the steering column?

the dent on the front pass fender is being fixed before i pick up the car, the small one on the door i may try and pop out if i feel thrifty down the road.

Honestly i didnt want a mint car, i would be more likley to favor it over my stang and well... thats just not allowed.

thanks either way. I'll price out stock cobra half shafts versus the new lsd, cheaper of the two will win. i doubt with an automatic i will ever need the 31's.

I drove 2 hours when i got the Vic...guy lived in the boonies, took another half hour to find his house! the marks Im looking at are 3+ hours.

89 hatch, 5.0/t5. My first car, brought it for 100 bucks in great condition, put 60 thousand on it, and now its in need of love and speed (still makes my jaw drop when i feel like dropping the throttle though)
 
Nice Mark!! I got my current one from Long Island. It wasn't that far away mileage wise but the traffice stunk!!

If you get 4.10's, you're going to need a chip or a tune as your speed limiter will make your top speed 80mph or so before it cuts you off.

really?

how involved is the speed limited, is it possible to disable or disconnect the sensor without a tune.

I guess im going to have to get used to all the electrical gizmos, welcome to a car from the recent decades i guess.

really, my gf has an 87 lx auto. its the only quick quto i'll have driven before the mark. I love my fox and would have brought a second, but it would have been frowned upon by those whose opinions matter (family). My fox will be getting a whole new drivetrain, once i can afford and decide what i want to do with it. Was planning a big block/auto, then it was a blown small block (427w) 6 speed.

yeah- she has that, and is trying to find a yellow or green cobra vert for the summer. sucks when her mustang is faster then mine! But i has the chevy for that:D


nothing wrong with the 302! her dads ran 10.5's with stock shortblock. stick on a T-trim and a good stick, and youll ahve loads of fun.
 
yeah yeah, always trying to be different though. Mustangs with 5.0's are like idiots, they are every where you look. i also have a 460 in good nick just lying around.
