The crazy part is the car showed no indication of a problem until this happened. No one altered any wiring. It was extremely reliable. That's why I put my Son in it. He knows nothing about cars and I live 180 miles from him.

There Was A Recall If I Remember. Both My 94 & 96 Had To Go In And Get An Updated Cruise Control Relay.

My 94 had to do the up dated recall, I believe it was around the drivers side fender well somewhere.

This definately started on the passengers side by the blower motor area. I think the recall can be ruled out.

I wonder if it was a fuel leak that ignited... It sounds like it was near the fuel line area and the blower sucked the flames into the car.

I don't think so. The blower just came on by itself. The AETC said "off". There was no fuel smell. He had the windows down and the moonroof opened. I would think he would have smelled fuel.
