Due to the hacker I'm unsure of whether Old School and One_Way saw my last message. Thanks to both. I found the inside LSC emblem (covered by my CD controler) and located the cabin temp. sensor. Gave it a good vacuming and then a shot of compressed air. It appears to function normally now. Lets see for how long.
The trip minder did not respond to the vacume and compressed air treatment so I will remove it and use the tune-up proceedure found on Lincolnsonline.
If that also fails to correct the problem I am assuming that a salvage lot is my only option. I have not yet checked with the dealer to see if they still carry those parts.
Thanks again to both!

You may not find a Tripminder at a dealership as I believe they have been discontinued. :Bang

Buying a salvage yard piece might work out for you. You may get lucky and find a working Tripminder. I struck out with a non-working Tripminder from my favorite junkyard AND from an eBay seller. At least I didn't pay too much for them.

Every once in a while, a refurbished unit will come up on eBay. Try to buy a Tripminder with a warranty if possible.

Glad your other problem has been solved! :headbang:

One Way,
Thanks again for your help and advice. I may possibly get by with the tune up. Although the diagnostic test doesn't produce the correct numbers for all modes it seems to work "OK" except for the fact that the DTE always comes on when the key is turned on. The DTE issue is a minor annoyance. I can stop the beeping with a double tap on any other button. The mileage calculator which I use nearly constantly seems to function as intended.
Best regards, Lincolnlov
