My airconditioner is blowing warm air

I have just re-charged my system with 4 cans of 134a and the compressor started to run on its on after two cans, so I continued with a third can and the upper lines started to get cool and the air coming out of the vents were getting luke warm. Now after the 4th can I think the system should have started to get cool and all of the lines are now cold. Should I go ahead and add more 134a or should I stop? Could this be blend door problem or a system problem. Your thoughts.

Just a question or two ont this, did the system leak out and if so how long was it empty? If it was for a long time you should have had the system purged with dry nitrogen and vacumed down after a leak test and repair was completed.

Even if you get the system to cool with the non condensables in there it will fail from moisture soon.
 
Ok, I re-charge it last July and was working fine until the heater core went out and I didn't drive the car until I repaired the heater core and blend door in November. I used 12oz cans and I do have access to gagues to test with.
 
It took 3 18oz cans to fully fill mine. I used the stuff pictured below and this was well over a month ago, maybe longer and it's still blowing cold and still holding the same pressure. 39 to 41psi

Well, if you use 3 18oz cans I guess I could try at least one 18oz and see what happens. Did you get those 18oz cans at Walmart?
 
Walmart has that brand but originally I got the first two at O'Reilly's. You really need the gauge to make sure you don't over fill. Can with gauge is about $22.00 and without is right at $18.00

This post made me want to recharge mine, the air blows slightly cool but WARM on hot days like today. For some reason when i hooked everything up the ac system would not suck in the contents of the bottle? My ac was blowing and it was on MAX also. I thought i forgot to remove a seal or something from the bottle, not the case etc. The pressure was in the middle of the green on the gauge i checked.

Last year she sucked on the bottle good lol, today nothing and i used the exact setup that EZchill one.
 
The system holds 2.2lbs (35.2 oz) of refrigerant. Adding three cans is one whole can to many...

Nope, they can fail as well, just nowhere near as often as on Gen II's. When the blend door went on my 96 it was stuck on the cold position in winter.

Could be possible but all I know is that the gauge is reading good and it's cooling good. Maybe what they say is in the can, really isn't. The gauge is showing 39 to 41 psi and it's blowing cold at idle, slightly cooler while driving.

You're correct but from his description, it didn't sound like a blend door and as rare as they are to go bad on a Gen 1 was my reason to say that wasn't his issue. He's just low on freon. Mine clicks sometimes during cold weather but if I lower the temp on the auto or push defrost, it quits. Once the car gets half way warm inside, the clicking stops.

You're correct but from his description, it didn't sound like a blend door and as rare as they are to go bad on a Gen 1 was my reason to say that wasn't his issue. He's just low on freon. That is the first sign that it is getting ready to go on you. The plastic main gear has started to strip, it is only a matter of time before it strips all the way and then fails. I would start looking for a replacement now as they are fairly difficult to find.
