Im wondering what is a good muffler for the Mark VIII? I have always been a belever in Flow Master duel chamber mufflers, ran them on all my muscle cars, but have never used them on a car with an overhead cam, don't know how they would sound. Or is there a better choice out there where you can get good flow with low noise?
 
If you want a cheaper route do the straight pipes in the back.... if you want to redo the exhuast I would go for maganaflows... flowmasters sound like ass on mod motors imo.

i agree... but flowmasters i like on most mod motors... just not on our cars...

i went with a dual in/ dual out dynaflo x muffler.. (internal x) in place of the 3rd cat. and 2 1/2" piping from that back to tips... i would post a clip, but its still all sitting on the floor... there are only 2 sound clips out there and are pretty hard to find. the car sounds nice... but damn i hope its louder then that.. haha.

I have to disagree with you there kid. Here is a couple videos of mine with flows and x-pipe. In the first one it sounds a lot more "raspy" than it really is in person. The second one is obviously from inside the car.

And yes in the first video you hear me stupid dog barking, and the 2nd video you hear my stupid reaction to the new 4.10 gears. LOL

i remember seeing yours on youtube... and actually i like the sound of that car.. especially if you say its less raspy... the reason i didnt do that set-up was because i listen to yours and it sounds good... then i listen to a few other cars that have the same setup and it sounds horrible..
its weird...
 
So the Flow Masters dont sound good on the 4.6??? I have not done any mods to mine yet. Just got it so that is going to be one of the first mods that I do to my car. Whats this three cat thing? I only could find two? Is that something they did on the cars with OBD II?
 
You should have 3 cats, 1 resonator and 2 mufflers.

(the third cat is where the 2 exhausts merge into a 'Y' then, there will be a very small resonator box behind that)

Wow... 95 and newer dont have to goto emissions? We finally got it to 81 and newer have to go. To bad Ive sold all my old Mopar muscle. Ugh! Oh well I got the 8 now to play with.
