As soon as you tell the muffler shop to cut out the 3rd cat they respond NO by law we can't remove it. From the book it's call "Dual Converter Y pipe. Also mention #6 (2 Req'd Catalytic Converter ). That's my plan and I'm sticking to it:D

And every service comes with a free headlight polish
 
Its NOT illegeal to remove at all. I have no idea what these shops have this misconception for. The law states you MUST have two cats per pipe, which we do.
 
There's always another shop down the road. Free hdlt polish I'm on the way. Those hdlts in the pic would look real nice on my 95. How did you get them to fit a 98?

I do the same thing. I can't stand yellow headlights. They are super happy to see clear headlights it makes there day.

Tony, its a cross Gen. My entire front clip is a mixture of 93 and 96LSC parts, everything from the doors back is 98

the shop I wanted to do my exhaust said 'no' to the 3rd cat; eventually I had to take it to a shop less skilled, more devious...if the state catches someone cutting it out, it's probably gonna be a fine close to or surpassing $10k; there is no arguing with a shop...keep looking, someone is desperate enough to cut it out fer ya, but then you have to have them put it back together, and they make be marginally qualified, as was my mechanic
 
Tell them it is going to be a track only off road car, no cat required. Takes the shop off the hook as they were just doing work on someones race car.
 
I'm cutting mine off myself and driving to the shop with much loudness. Giving them all the stuff I want put on and hittin the road. Fed-X should be showing up any minute with my X-Pipe muffler. Tips aren't being shipped until next week. Ordering mufflers tomorrow sometime.

I too have been to a couple of shops and they said no to the 3rd cat cut off but was told that if it came in without one, then they weren't liable.

No no no. We have two cats right off the engine (primary cats) thats one per pipe. Look at #6 above. Trust me I know I went to the state about this when we had customers come and say other shops wouldnt touch it. I havent ever heard of our cat back system ever failing any insp. in any state.

#6 is a cat, there's 1 at each downpipe, driver side is attached to manifold
#3 is a cat for Both banks, inside is a single combed chamber
#2 is a resonater, its sole purpose is cabin noise reduction

So like I said... if you remove that 3rd cat in diagram listed as #3, there will only be 1 cat per bank

Just lift it up and sawzall that bitch. Drive open manifolds to the shop. Problem solved :)
 
Hahaha.. I ran the test fire of my new engine with no pipes, ehrmergerd loud

Went to the local marilyn muffler shop. They wont install anything but their products. I asked how much to install from cat's back. Their answer, can't get the parts. I'm getting tired of IDIOT'S:mad:
 
I am glad my best friend growing up is the son of an independant exhaust shop owner. Plus, I can weld.
 
This is why they need to impose a reproduction bill... forget gun laws and the (ROFL) "war on drugs" .. if your IQ isn't above 115- mandatory birth control

100% agree!

Now, off topic a bit but for those of you that have children, the child tax credit this coming year is about to go from $1000 per child to $500 per child.

Ok, back on topic again. I just remembered seeing that the other day and it will likely pass.
 
There's always the black market.. they pay well for children, I bet they'd even buy your wife

I should've sold my ex ...lol
