is there a specific offset i need to order when i order mufflers for my 2006 lincoln ls? what is the stock mufflers offset? is it center in/offset out? can i order mufflers with center in/center out? what are the differences? i want them to not hang down and i want them to sit like the stock ones? also any advice on some 2.5 to 3.5 or 4 in tips? thanks.

Well this is a huge debate and look about a page or to back in time and you will find all your answers.

Now for tips, it just depends on what you want. I have no tips I have a sleeper look nothing flashy going on with my car but that's my taste. If I did I would do about 3 inch on mine I like the 4 inch trumpets on the black cars but not on mine.

True it's personal taste however Gen1 cars don't have exhaust cutouts. Gen2 cars have larger cutouts ion the rear bumper that IMHO make the stock exhaust tips look tiny. I have stock mufflers with just 4" tips added just to fill up the cutouts.

What I think looks the best and what I have is 2.5" center in, offset out with 4" double walled angle cut tips.

this is true, not sure how I read over the 2006 part up there, on gen II cars at least 3-4 inch horns

what are the 4 in tips you have cause im not too sure on the length of the tips i dont want them sticking out very far

I had to check my amazon history... They are Magnaflow 35164. The price has more then doubled since I got them though. Gives you an idea on the length. I don't think they can be to much longer IIRC without messing with the exhaust hangers.

For tips you need them to be at least 7" long.

I had shorter tips and the heat killed my bumper cutouts.....i had to take a dremel to it because it melted some of the plastic.

The tips i have right now are 3.5" and they look good but if i were to do it again i would just go with 4" tips.

I got them from http://assuredautomotiveproducts.com/

The website looks cheesy but they have fast shipping and great prices....and send you promo codes for 15% off if you register.

Most will fit. Size will now depend on how loud you want it. For example, maganflow sells 2 identical mufflers, but one would come in 14'' and the other 18'', something like that. The longer muffler will quiet the exhaust more compared to the smaller muffler.
