I agree very disappointing fight. I wouldn't call Kimbo's developent shocking. He is eager and quick to learn but it only looks at all impressive because he was so completely lacking anything but stand up before coming to UFC. And his stand up hasn't been very effective so far.
Mir should win as long as he doesn't get caught up in standing and banging with Kongo. Kongo is a more effective striker but Mir has gotten pretty good and is a better and more well rounded fighter overall.
And I like Mir. He is inteligent and usually entertaining as he a pretty normal guy who just likes to fight.

Fedor Emelianenko
How is Mir going to get Kongo to the ground? I figure Mir pulls gaurd. But I am sure Kongo will be looking for that. Stand-up and make Mir fight his fight. Make Mir stand and BANG.
Kongo showed how easily he can be taken down in the Velasquez. Kongo better be spending a lot of time on take down defense if he expects to have a chance. If Mir gets him on the ground he will have a real tought time. I like Cheick Kongo as well but I have to go with Mir on this one.
Is a great fighter but past his prime and I think that was a factor is his decision to go to strikeforce over ufc.
its ufc 107 by the way....
Fedor didn't sign with Strikeforce. M-1 Global is letting Fedor fight in Strikeforce. Any boardcast that involves Fedor is a co-promotion for M-1 Global and Strikeforce. If Fedor isn't fighting, its plain "Strikeforce". Fedor has two more fights on his contract with M-1 Global. At that point, he is a free agent. Don't let that fool you either. Fedor is part owner of M-1 Global. So he will just resign with M-1.
I personally think Fedor will NEVER fight in the UFC. M-1 Global wants to co-promote any show that has Fedor fighting in it. Why would the UFC split the profits with some no name organization like M-1? What does M-1 bring to the table to help the UFC? Nothing. The UFC offered to let Fedor wear M-1 Global gear and hang a banner in his corner. BUT M-1 wants billing in the cage and credits. PLUS, part of the PPV and gate.
The contract that was rumored to have been offered to Fedor was in the ballpark of $5 million per fight for 6 fights. PLUS, the UFC was going to allow him to compete in Sambo tournaments in Russia. UFC has a "no compete" clause in all of their contracts.
In my opinion, I think by Fedor not fighting in the UFC. It will only tarnish his legacy. It looks like he is avoiding the real contenders.
