Just wondering where the origin of the McLaren grille came from. I have one being painted as we speak, and was wondering it's origin. Was there some secret LS that I can't find info on? Or was this just an aftermarket accessory?

Anyone know where I can get more pictures of the McLaren LS?

IIRC (old age) the McLaren was only a show car that never actually went into production. It was supposed to Supercharged, with a custom exhaust and Suspension along with some customized body parts like the grille. Dealers did not show much interest and the real killer was Ford/Lincoln not cooperating with the needed computer modifications for the supercharger. At the time no one had penetrated the code & without factory cooperation, the project proved uneconomical.

Leave it to FoMoCo to effectively shoot themselves in the foot...

The McLaren LS was what inspired me to find this site as I was looking left and right for more info on it as well as eventually influencing me to do any work to the car I wanted to be my daily slow and go family car.

BTW, it is not the same McLaren as the F1 cars and the grill was a bit different then the ones we have. The grill was just like the 2000-02 grill where it did not have surrounding trim, it just had a top with a separate second piece. If you look at ours and ones that have been painted the trim goes all the way around.

I believe that the grilles we have are the production run for the McLaren cars. The production run may well have been different from the prototype car's grille. For a while you could also buy the production run of the McLaren exhaust (until the supply ran out).

I thought there was only ever one or 2 made and it never ran.

Anyway the exterior is basically a LSE and I thought the exhaust was really just the LSE tips?

What kind of exhaust did the Mclaren LS had?

Don't remember who actually made the exhaust, but I remember that the systems were still being sold when I bought my 04 LSE. They fit the 2000-2002 models, so I was never interested. The rumor was that the 03+ exhaust was a semi-copy converted for factory production.
