wow, $300 car at most.
really he should be paying someone to haul it off.

Gotta love including "ran it up to 145 mph" in an ad.

I abuse (ABUSE) my AOD and 4R70Ws and only has the AOD broken, and that happened because in order to avoid an accident I decelerated and braked quickly on rumble strips from 85 to zero. I do all the things your not supposed to do...OD-2nd down shifts, WOT in OD, hold second relentlessly, my 97 Cougar would slide a tire at 85 when locking out OD to slow down on the interstate, etc. I have 280,000 on my Grand Marquis, 150k on 97 Cougar, 135k on 97 Mark VIII, and 225k on 89 Cougar.

The Mark had issues with the transmission that didn't come to light in the test drives, but between doing the JMod and replacing some worn VB parts and accumulator pistons all is well now.

The AODE was a tough old transmission in my experience. 260,000 miles without ever being opened up. The engine completely went in my Cougar and shook so bad it split the transmission cooling return line. Emptied most of the transmission fluid out on an interstate doing 75 until it couldn't even move the car anymore. Patched the line with redneck ingenuity (brake hose double clamped), filled the transmission back up with some walmart fluid, shifted perfectly, drove another 1100 miles home.

Transmission was still working great when that car went to the junkyard.

that car is still for sale?? ****, this car was posted probably a year ago..same pictures and everything.

Looking for a car for my daughter...I would love to add another Mark VIII, but she is 100 miles away and I need something that would be more practical. For this price I can get a 2003-05 Taurus or slightly more for an Escape.

I am not sure I want a unicorn of a unicorn, I like Gen I cars, but I think I would have have to pass on a 96 for a 95, even though a 96, if no CEL, is much less work for emissions (as it is check ready states via OBD-II, and 2 year tags, 95 is on the rollers and 1 year at a time).
