from playing the collector car market, I would expect the value of the marks to start going up after 10-15 years. Currently it is sitting as the last 2 door lincoln has put out in a decade and quite possibly longer. to a lincoln collector that should be worth something by itself.
As I have been into cadillacs longer then lincolns, I can honestly say no one would have thought a fleetwood brougham coupe would ever be worth anything, however, I have spent 5 years looking for the color combo and option package I want...when I find it I fully expect to pay $25k.
As far as big picture, I would say if you are looking for long term (20-25 year) value, you have 2 options....100% bone stock garage queen would bring the most, and suprisingly a WELL modified and COMPLETELY documented car keeping the original purpose (luxury hot-rod, think 100% custom car show quality) would come in second.
Again, that is just based on my experience....I recently sold 2 59 cad converts back to back that did the opposite of that, one was a well preserved original, damn near perfect condition with 38k, sold for around $90k, the other was rebuilt from the ground up with the interior from an 80-85 deElegance coupe, a blown LS6 driveline, and alot of custom suspension welding both front and rear. about 350k on the chassis (daily drove it for 4 years) That one brought close to $180k....I was about $50k into it and SERIOUSLY regret selling it....my point there is a modded car can bring as much or more as unmodded, but its in how its done and documented...mine included about 600 hours of video alone and about 10 binders full of pictures and instruction...think on the level of factory service manual...
The mark will be a collector of some sorts some day...it will all be in how you keep it....those just throwing in parts will get a lot less that a fully documented car with those same parts....thats the route I am going with my recently aquired 94...shooting for a true Hot rod lincoln....comfy, cushy, and sub 12 second
...it will be a 3 year project
