Many Coolant Crossover ??'s

I recently bought a new (used) coolant crossover pipe, had it sand blasted and powdercoated, and like the picture down below there is a small hole right where one of the sensors screw in. but it also looks like to me that it is not a weld but more or less a putty. So here is question numero uno. To fix the whole should i re-weld it from the inside, weld it from the outside, or use some type of putty to plug the hole.

question number zwei, How much pressure actually runs through the coolant lines.

Question number trois what are the two sensors inside the coolant crossover pipe.

Question number vier. Would you replace both the sensors with new ones

coolant temp sensors are in the crossover tube.....Gen1s have 2 sensors, Gen2s have 1.............

Forgot all about the coolant sensors. I really didn't know the Gen 1 had 2 of them though. Now I do.

Yes replace the coolant temp sensor and the fan temp sensor they are cheap to replace.

oh so the one with a clip is the Fan temp sensor? so what do i do to go about pplugging the hole, how much pressure is in the coolant system

temp sensor is on the passanger side, fan temp sensor is on the drivers side. An easy way to find out what any cooling system is pressurized to is read the radaitor cap, it states what max PSI is.

it comes with its own sensor, haven't quite put it in yet

drivers side also it the one displayed inside the car the other one for is for the computer

The question is why would you not install them. They are cheap and do you want the dash gauge to work or not.

ok so its for the dash gauge, i will the driver side one, but ford want 60 bucks for the passenger side sensor, so i am just going to put in the old one

For those just go to Advance. They are not much. I think you may have gotten a price for a 97/98 sensor, $60 is way high I think.

If the old dash one was fine, the one with the single wire, then re-use. But the other, for the computer and fan, put new.

when u say computer and fan, what does it tell the cpu and the fan i believe is obsolete at the moment because of the new system

So your not using the stock computer? Collant temp is VERY important for the car to know. The sensor on the passenger side if for the computer.

The one above who said it was just for the fan is well, wrong. The sensor does not interact directly with the fan.

Like I said, just put the dang sensors in already! lol You need the passenger side one for the computer which controls the fan and a million other variables based on that temp reading - such as the fuel tables. The other, on the driver side, is the sensor for the face gauge which if you want working or not is up to you.

what does it tell the cpu

The ECT located on the passenger side of the coolant crossover gives the PCM very much needed information to prevent the engine from blowing up.

Do NOT feed garbage or NO information to the PCM.

You should use both sensors, and put your "aftermarket sensor" someplace else, I've seen them installed IN the crossover cap.

the single wire sensor talks to your temp guage
the multiwire sensor talks to your PCM

IMHO you want/need BOTH.

you plug the hole with the appropriate sensor!
