Does this device need to be removed and have the element/probe cleaned to maintain it ? T.I.A.

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. (The LS doesn't have one. MAPs are not cleaned.)

MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor. (It should be cleaned if dirty, but it shouldn't get dirty unless you aren't using the stock air filter.)

BAP = Barometric Air Pressure sensor. (The LS does have this. It is inside the MAF assembly. It doesn't get cleaned though.)

Thank you for your reply's. I thought that I had a M.A.P. downstream on the air intake at the elbow (V6). Some type of device sits in the air intake. As you can tell I am not a mechn.
P.S. I cleaned the M.A.F. for the first time this spring and it was covered dust/dirt. I guess even with being dilligent with changing the air filter dirt still gets sucked into the engine. Scary

I believe that is the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor - which the PCM usues to determine the temp of the air charge entering the engine. it's a sealed unit.

Thank You Quick and Joe
