I'm thinking about lower my car but before i do i would like to know how hard it is to do if any one has done it themselves, also what is the best brand to buy?

It's a fairly easy process to install the springs yourself. All you need are some sockets and spring compressors. It took me and a buddy about 3 hours to put my Eibachs on, with some breaks in between. If you have high miles I'd suggest installing new shocks/struts too, or else you'll be like me and changing them 10,000 miles after putting the springs on. Also, get an alignment after you're done.

I got Springtechs as I wanted the lowest drop I could get my hands on. It came out perfect IMO - wheel gap came out nicely.

Here is my car getting aligned:

Springtech claims a 1.75 drop, but I am certain it is more, I would guess a little more than 2".

andrizzle your car is a beast, is there a kit where i can get shock, springs, and stuts all together

alax.....i c some gold near ur name now huh big shot....

Oh yeah! big man on campus!. lol.Na, been meaning to for a while but I always forgot. Went gold minutes before buying an lse spoiler from lsk to get the discount and pay my dues to the site for all the info.

Struts and shocks are the same thing for our car. Most here call them shocks. Outside of the ls world, they will prob be called struts. Well atleast it's some good news for your. Now you only have to get springs and one new set of shocks, not new shocks and struts.

haha probably should have figured that one out lol but we all learn some time, is there a kit that comes with shocks and springs

Our cars dont have shocks they have struts..lol joking. You have to buy them seperate and they make different ones for the sport suspension ,they are stiffer but im pretty sure you can use either one.

Here we go again.... There is a big difference between a shock and a strut. Simply, a shock is just a damper, a strut is part of the suspension system. The LS uses coil-over shocks. Some dealers call them struts, but they definitely are NOT struts.

I was just messin with him man.....But when you are buying them from a ford dealer they are called a STRUT....So when he goes to buy them or looks on a factory ford website the part is listed as a strut.Check here they have some pretty good prices.Just type your year and model and its under front suspension

When I took mine to get checked for shacking on the highway, they said my struts were bad so they put new ones on. Then I thought I needed to do shocks too, but people here told me they are the same. Not the same part like you said, just called both things by different people but both are referring to the coil-over shocks.

Many vehicles have struts in the front and shocks in the rear. This is common on cars that have independent front suspension and a live axle or leaf springs in the rear. The LS is coil over shocks all around. I think everyone on this forum knows what you are talking about - the springy and bouncy stop things. There is no kit that has everything included. It is difficult to find aftermarket shocks for the LS and impossible to find factory lowering springs. Get the Eibach springs and some OEM sport shocks. Borrow a spring compressor from Autozone or other local auto parts store and have at it.

wouldn't i want to get new shocks for the front and back, not just the front?

Yes, get new shocks in all 4 corners not just front.

ok thanks i order my new wheels saturday, hopefully they'll be here this week , but most likely early next week, then i'll move on to lowering it, but i was just wondering what i should do and where i can find cheap parts
