Hey guys, started taking my LCA's out yesterday and ran into some trouble. I'm waiting for a break in the rain to continue but I would enjoy some advice in the mean time.

I already disconnected all of the nuts from the LCA and also removed the ball join from the spindle. I was unable to get the bolts to come out of the bottom of the shock and from the frame. I was only able to hammer for a few minutes before the rain picked up. Does anybody have any trips or recommendations for getting the bolts out so i can replace the arm?

Thanks
-James

Are they rusted in, or being held by pressure of where you placed the Jack perhaps?

Hey guys, thanks for the advice.

I got the bolt out from between the shock and arm.... i had to use a ratchet and turn it all the way out... looks like it cut threads into the shock....

I still can't get the bolt out where it attaches to the frame. It's hard to hammer with the tie rod right in the way. The washers on it for the camber adjustment... do they need to be in a certain position? The nut is already off... the bolt just won't slide through. I'm going to try the jack idea now but any other ideas would be appreciated.

put a paint mark on the washer and subframe so it can be lined up again. take the cam washer on the nut side off then try turning the bolt out (or at least release pressure off of the cam washer) and it should come out. if you already spun that bolt and didnt put a paint mark on it then just spin it out cuz you need an alignment

I'm spinning it but it's not backing out, just spinning in place. Any idea how to get it to back out while it's spinning?

Alright the washer wasn't aligned correctly on the nut side. When i hammered it back into position the bolt slid right through.

Now with the whole arm out I hit my next problem.... I got the bushing off from the stut rod but I can't get the sleeve off.... Any ideas?

Pb blaster! Sounds like you have rust issues, but once you remove the rear SR bushing, the arm will slide over the sleeve

and yes a paint mark would help with alignment on the camber washers, but when replacing LCA, struts, tie rods, strut rod bushings you're going to need an alignment regardless
