low mile 2nd gen with waay high price

You couldn't give me a base Gen2

Doesn't take much to transform. Working on that now as we speak since I crashed my 97. I bought a 98 CE neon last year, painted & installed it to match. Doing the same to all the chrome around the car, I'm swapping it out for LSC moldings & painting them myself to match. Then eventually I'm going true duals & play with the gears but I will always leave it looking stock just to mess w/ppl.

So what're you doing to a Gen 2 to get 13s N/A? Exhaust/gen 1 intake/gen 1 EEC? :shifty:

I have a Super Flux Capacitor 5000 :shifty::p Not a Gen1 intake, but the Gen2 intake had to go. My first 13 second pass came this last year shifting at 6600 rpms with the Cobra intake in 76 degree temps. It woke the car up in a big way and now I see why it's hard for Gen2s to go fast with the stock intake in a naturally aspirated condition. I've been to the track the year prior before the intake swap and the car was nothing like it is now. I have come to believe that the Gen1 intake is very comparable in terms of performance to the Cobra intake. With better valve springs for extra security in the Gen1s I think the stock intake would do quite well at higher rpms unlike the Gen2 intake. The Gen2 intake is pretty much done at 5900 rpms, at least in my experience. I believe a Gen1 will generally always have more rwhp compared to a Gen2 with a stock intake and the same mods BUT I also believe that if the Gen2 has a Cobra intake with a proper setup and good tune, that all changes and those same two cars now become pretty much the same in performance.

I am slowly in the process of proving that with a proper setup, a Gen2 can be made to perform just as well as a Gen1. Not because I have any sort of rivalry in my head. I love all Mark 8s but at the same time, I didn't know any of this when I bought my Gen2. I started reading about performance upgrades with these cars and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and now it has gotten me into a quest to find out how fast I can make it without a power-adder. :)
